Very historical building in Taiwan - soak in the history and atmosphere, while enjoying the local home-made crafts sold in the market area outside.

This used to be the first market place in Taiwan 100 years ago. Now it has many cute local artist design shops.

really cool spot--my favorite detail was a Taiwanese newspaper ad for Elaine May's A NEW LEAF on the inside.

Next to the Ximen MRT station. Built in 1908 and designed by Japanese architect Kondo Juro, who had a western background. During the Japanese colonial era the octagonal building was a marketplace .

This is the gay part of the city that hasn’t been gentrified (yet). Many cute small bars upstairs and outside bars for spending time with friends vs a dance floor

Remaining building from the Japanese occupation. A few stores inside and a lounge for small music concerts .

It's great here. I came here with my friends at 11:00 pm after watching a movie . There were so many bars here that we didn't know before.

Weekends have local stalls selling creative items . I bought a sick shirt from "Peej's"

Come here during the weekends for the weekly flea market , independent designers and craft makers selling creative items !

One of the most known structures in Taipei but there is nothing much to see inside really.

Very Arty - Farty place !

Creative place but little bit regret closed when i come on Monday.

1908年西門紅樓興築完成迄今已屆百週年，是台灣第一 座官方興建的公營市場 ，亦是今天全島所保存最古老完整的三級古蹟市場建築物。由當時任職台灣總督府營繕課、擅長西洋建築風格的日籍建築師近藤十郎設計。年輕大膽的創意以「八卦造型」取其八方雲集之意作為市場入口、「十字架造型」作為市場主體的特色，不僅空前絕後，更是東、西建築史上的首例。目前眾人所稱的八角樓和十字樓，另加上緊鄰兩旁的南北廣場統稱為「西門紅樓」。

MRT西門駅前にある赤煉瓦建築 。もともと日本統治時代の1908年 に市場 として建てられ、現在は劇場 や展示 施設、店舗、カフェ として活用されています。A red brick building. Originally built as Market in 1908, Japanese ruled era. Now used as Theater, shops, museum and cafe.

1908 年 に建てられた、辰野式っぽいイメージの赤煉瓦造の建築 。設計は近藤十郎と松ヶ崎萬長。八角楼と十字楼の 2 つの建物が組み合わせられた特色ある建物。

1908年 、台湾で初めて政府が建設 した市場 。設計は日本人建築 家の近藤十郎、「八卦造形」が特徴。月曜定休っぽい。週末は建物側の広場 でイベント が開催されたり露店が建ち並ぶ。1・2階に土産 屋や雑貨 店あり。

夕方に行ってみたけど美しくて、言葉を失いしばらくここに立っていたほど…中までゆっくり見る時間がなかったことは残念。。
