They are actually running these machines! You should wait around for the demonstration. It definitely takes museum experience to a totally new level.

Great museum. For free.By that I mean that a lot of the exhibits are tired, and the kids experiment floor is a bit dated, with some stuff broken or missing. The £3 donation may go towards improvements?
It's a marvellous museum to understand the industrial revolution. I highly recommend that everyone should visit the museum .
One of the hidden gems in Manchester. Great for all ages - young and old. Very welcoming staff . Free entry . Worth leaving a donation.

After checking out the exhibits head to the cafe and lounge on one of the very comfortable brown sofas :)
It's free and it is a great place to take the kids during school holidays. Always changing exhibits so you can visit again and again. Check it out.

Lots to see with plenty "out back" that could be easy to miss due to the split levels.

I really liked the museum ! So interesting and well done.
Couldn't book tickets online (no availability) but if you head down anyway they can book them for you from the front desk.
Recently been "modernised" - I preferred the old style tbh! Couldn't find the traffic light from the IRA bomb any more, or the bicycle collection from the air hall, and Power Hall was turned off :(
Interactive area on the third floor is great for kids and adults aswell. Great fun while learning and thinking
Free entrance, cotton demonstration was beneficial.
Free entrance. Very interesting, in special the power industry evolution.
I think this place is great, even more so now that its free, love looking at the trains and how steam engines work. The aeroplane building is also another not to be missed!
Hear what planet Earth sounds like in our Beneath and Beyond installation which monitors tectonic shifts around the world.
It is ok, just about. Free at least. Well maintained and interesting in the engine part
