Ed Levine wrote that Sal served slices that were "more workmanlike and less idiosyncratic than Di Fara, but no less artful and satisfying." One of the best places for a slice on the Upper West Side. Read more

Serious Eats

The slices are large, a little salty , and moderately greasy in that great New York slice kinda way. The aged mozzarella is flavorful and sparingly applied, and the sauce is sweet and tangy .

This neighborhood slice joint—once a middle school staple of mine—has been kicking it on the Upper West Side for decades, and a recent return proved it's stood the test of time. Read more

Delicious pizza !! Can’t believe I’ve lived on the UWS for 4 1/2 years and I’ve just tried it for the first time. One of the best corner pizza spots in the city . Better than famous Joe’s.

Winston S.

My favorite New York slice in the area. Nice and crispy and just the right amount of cheese and sauce

Alex Robertson

the dough is just incredible, as is the organic feel of all the ingredients. the best pizza on the UWS, absolutely--and right next to xi'an famous foods!

RJ Kipniss

The spinach slice is excellent and if you are lucky enough to grab a calzone before they are all gone you will enjoy one of the best the city has to offer.

Hector

Classic NYC pizzeria , slices on the saltier side, but still delicious

Asher Sarnoff

Grew up here, had the best pizza all over, to me, this is the best pie I ever had. Period. Made by real Italians who have done it all their lives. DA BEST!!!

Alexandra Tritz

The pizza is awesome ! A little salty but it doesn't really matter, it's cheap and delicious and made in front of you !

Real Cheap Eats

Sal and Carmine’s plain slice ($2.50) is a local legend. "The light sauce is at one with olive oil , with a slightly tangy flavor that blends seamlessly with a generous layer of whole fat mozzarella ." Read more

Best slice in the city . Truly great pizza even though they don't use a coal-burning oven.

11 bucks for three slices - is it good deal for NY?

Sandy Campbell

Nice ingredients, but perhaps too salty ?

Reynaldo P is mistaken. Sal, the elder of the two brothers, passed away. Carmine is still around but less and less often.
