Jalapeño hush puppies and truffle mushroom toast are amazing! Cauliflower dish has to many different tastes that didn't match, didn't like the corn dessert !
At brunch , vegetarians settle in for Cohen’s green eggs , zucchini pancakes , and a radish and goat cheese omelette . The Brussels sprouts tacos are especially popular. Read more
the broccoli hot dogs and carrot sliders are so fun and good. the mushroom dish was incredible and the best was the Korean fried broccoli . delicious cocktails and homemade monkey bread as well .
Had the absolute best time dining here. Service was impeccable and the course dishes were beautiful and tasty. My fave was the carrot dish! No tipping b/c employees are paid a fair wage. Impressive!!
The pre fixe dinnner was amazing (inventive and Delicious). The staff was attentive and had full knowledge of the menu. I cannot wait to go again
One of the most interesting menus left in this part of town . Sit at the chef 's bar if you're witth a good friend who would welcome the distraction. Also every cocktail is great.
Had gone to the original spot a number of times and always held that as my fav restaurant/experience in NYC. The new spot does not live up to that. The curried fries and cabbage hot pot in particular
This place is hands down on point. The Korean broccoli , hush puppies , and Brussel tacos were amazing. I love my red meat, but could eat here any day of the week.
Best vegetarian restaurant I've ever eaten at. Came for brunch and had the zucchini pancakes (pictured), tomato biscuits and green huevos . Recommend all of them!
Brunch was awesome. The French toast was the softest I've ever had and the spinach ramen salad was delicious and weird.
Everything is amazing. I’m not vegetarian . But I love this place. For example, we just had a mini-pizza made mostly from carrots that somehow tasted like the best pepperoni pizza in the world!
Almost everything can be made with a vegan spin. The Korean fried broccoli stopped us both in our tracks . You gotta book .
Their mushroom dish is fantastic! I also liked the broccoli dog and their corn dessert . Korean fried broccoli was the only disappointing dish.. Too salty. They're very strict w timing
The Bitches say: A+. This brunch was fantastic - each dish was memorable and unique, and left us refreshed for our day in the city . We can’t wait to come back! Read more
Get the tasting menu , you won't be disappointed--stuffed, but not disappointed. And this place is amazing whether you're a vegetarian or not (I'm not).
Chef Amanda Cohen has been doing haute veg since before it was cool—actually no, it was always cool here. Don’t skip dessert : The cucumber semifreddo is the stuff summer dreams are made of. Read more
Awesome vegetarian spot ! Hush puppies were crispy & flavorful w/maple butter. Mushroom appetizer tantalized my taste buds. Bread , carrot & squash entrees were delicious. Loved the carrot dessert !!
Each entree features iterations on a single ingredient - you had no idea there were so many ways to prepare cauliflower ! Added bonus: just about everything on the menu can be prepared vegan .
Loved these dishes: fried Broccoli , mushroom mousse , tomato tart , fennel crisp & onion chocolate tart . Skip pickles , pea shoots , Brussels tacos , radish pasta & cucumber semifreddo.
This place exceeded my expectations! The carrot sliders and jalapeño hush puppies were amazing!! Would definitely recommend this spot to everyone!
Korean fried broccoli was worth getting. The Brussels sprouts tacos were a bit bland and overrated
Delicious food and prices are decent for a prix fixe restaurant ($65 for 5 courses and $99 for 10). Cocktails here are all vegetable based and are surprisingly good.
I'm torn with this place. Cool concept, I do love vegetables . I did not enjoy the corn boil. The brussel sprout tacos are better. Best hush puppies , loved the Korean fried broccoli .
Try the kale matzoh ball soup with a tableside presentation of verdant vegetable stock. Miniature kale balls surround a poached egg , which adds a splash of striking yellow when punctured.
This charred onion thing with the ramps, get two. I heard they have a vault full of pickled ramps so they can make them all year round.
There’s definitely no hush after having these Jalapeno Hush Puppies . The sweet, doughy fried ball was brilliantly coated with the rich and creamy maple brown butter . This made vegan food fun too!
The food was great. Jalapeno Hush puppies , the yellow pepper soup , waffles and cauliflower , the beans, and the chocolate beet cake . The chocolate beet cake was creative. Would recommend this place.
Fancy weird tiny plates when you think that listed ingredients won't go along but they actually do! Kale soup is lame though. Tomatoes are the best. Everything is vegetarian . Service is great.
The jalapeno hush puppies are marvelous, the fried trumpet mushrooms look like onion rings , and the carrot risotto is a shocking shade of orange Read more
The food was extremely beautiful in a way hard to describe: like the best party of vegetables explodes in your mouth. if you're at the restraint the shirts cab rebook you to come back in 2 months
My favorite order: mushrooms , cauliflower , rutabaga, Brussels sprouts tacos and the Carrot meringue for dessert !!
My favorite was the Korean broccoli . Pretty pricey tho since they put a 20% service charge on each bill (no tipping). One appetizer , one v tiny mushroom entree, one so so dessert and one cocktail =$70
Surprisingly great brunch spot . Extremely wonderful staff , super conscious of dietary restrictions and allergies.
All the brunch options are unreal tasty and the presentation is possibly the best for the price I have ever seen.
It's crispy , crunchy, deep fried broccoli with a spicy-sweet Korean chili sauce , mayo , scallions and sesame seeds . FYI, Dirt Candy's whole menu is vegetarian . Read more
The tasting menu is worth the price, though I can't say many great things about the celery dessert . The onion chocolate cake , on the other hand, is smashing.
Village Voice is proud to welcome Dirt Candy to the 2014 Choice Eats food fest! http://bit.ly/1cRzdNV. The tiramisu with eggplant is a unique and delicious dessert .
We ordered the zucchini pancakes with squash blossom butter after eyeing them down on another diner’s table. Needless to say, this dish was a standout. Read more
Vegetables (a.k.a. dirt candy) are the stars of this menu, and as freaky as it may sound, one of the best dishes is (drumroll): tiramisu with eggplant .
Korean fried broccoli fritters , cauliflower , Brussels sprouts tacos and corn cake were AMAZING.
Truly one of the most incredible meals I've had. You just don't miss the meat - and in fact, is a win that it's not there. Spectacular!!!
Honestly, if I could have any super power it would be teleporting, but after that it would be to cook vegetables like these chefs . Unbelievable, one of my favorites in NY
This popular vegetarian restaurant will satisfy even the most-stubborn meat-lover! Only downside is that the place is tiny, so be sure to book a table well in advance.
Speedy service, friendly . Vegetarian food . Nice ambience. Great for groups . Would go back if im in the area.
Amanda Cohen's fun and whimsical temple to vegetables without pretense. Don't miss the hush puppies and save room for dessert .
Chef Amanda Cohen turns vegetables into the food of the Vegetarian Gods at her restaurant on 9th Street. Expect to be wowed by what she can do with tomatoes , eggplant , and a little cheese .
Get mushrooms ! for an appetizer and corn ! for your entree, and you'll be in store for a rockin' meal. Throw in the sweet pea and mint chocolate ice cream bar if you have any room left.
Creative vegetarian spot with popular menu items such as the Jalapeno hush puppies . Stop by for lunch or great for dinner .

Their bread is from Sullivan street bakery . Try Green tea roll & ice cream . (And of course eggplant tiramisu )
This restaurant was amazing. The heated floor for your feet was a nice touch. Try the nirvana drink if you love ginger! I ate the spicy mushroom dinner it was awesome and plenty of food! - Kelsey Nicole
