Chen's Mapo Tofu

One of those places where u naturally arrive a skeptic(it’s just mapo tofu !)but leave a fan. It’s amazing how by simply pairing it with sticky rice , the mala mapo gravy shines thru. Vege option avail!

The popular signature mapo tofu dish is more affordable here ($10.50 w rice , $12.50 w dan dan mien) than at main Shisen Hanten @ Mandarin Orchard Hotel ($26)

The Super Value Meal is really Value for Money . However the food here tend to be more too heavy on the salt level, almost every dish is salty . 酸辣汤 is not bad.

Unimpressed with their sides during takeaway order . Babanji chicken (w spicy sesame sauce )—for all the big words— was fragrant but underwhelming. Szechuan popcorn chicken had non-existent spiciness

Seating by the window. There are only 2 tables. So come early or get lucky 🍀

Order their Set Meal 2, which comes with a portion of mapo tofu , a portion of dan dan mian, and a drink to quell the heat

Avoid ordering takeaway noodles w mapo tofu . By the time it got to us, the noodle had already hardened & not chewy. The rice pack was still good

Mapo and Tan tan combo is great. Can have another combo!

Nasu don (eggplant cooked with pickled chilli sauce ) was OK, not memorable

Tasty but tends to be quite heavy in terms of seasoning.

I'll come back for the mapo-buri.

A bit disappointed. Tastes too sweet and oily for my belly...

While the food was flavorful, it was way too salty for me.

The food is so salty and expensive . Will never come back.
