The MFAH covers world cultures, including art of the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Be sure to check out the sculpture garden with works by Rodin, Matisse, and Giacometti. Read more
It's a fine fine arts museum . I look forward to seeing their massive Latin American Art collection which is currently not on view . Their movies program is awesome!
Try to spend at least one whole morning/afternoon here. The collection is quite complete and the temporal expositions I guess they’re always a surprise. I’d get the membership if I lived in Houston!
This is an intriguing museum with an excellent international collection to offer! Recommended!
For all art lovers out there definitely a must go when in Houston! Vast selection! Ron Mueck's exhibit is definitely something else! What a talent! Amazing work!
Web Developer Rachel: "I've always liked art museums , and the MFAH is definitely one of my new favorites. It helps that you can also go see films here if you don't feel like walking around."
Go on a thursday - it’s free! Bit of a mixed bag of stuff, no real identity/theme but quality of the exhibits is v high. There are better museums in Europe (obviously) but pretty amazing for Houston.
If you only have a couple of hours, spend them in the Audrey Jones Beck building. Antiquities and American art on 1st floor. Permanent collection of European art on 2nd floor.
Ever wondered what it would be like to be rich? Wander around the MFAH, pretend you’re decorating a mansion, and pick your fav works of art . Pro tip: On Thursdays, museum entry is free!

The summer armchair movies are a wonderful way to experience exhibits from a round the world without leaving home. Well done documentaries featuring many of the masters.
Definitely if you still have time you have to come over and see the Soto Penetrable it is perfect! Geometry, movement... Just perfection
Parking lot across from museum fills quickly on weekends & other busy days. Park for free 2 blocks away at Glassell School (5101 Montrose). Bonus?- Cullen Sculpture Garden is on the two-block route.
Special exhibitions that bring art pieces from around the world to Houston. The underground tunnel has a light panel that can be used for cool photograph effect.
One thing Houston is known for is its diversity in Art , and Museum of Fine Arts is the spot where Diversity exists in Art World, Great Spacious Museum , love it when they have their Night Life there.
It's an amazing museum !!! I've been coming here since I was a baby and always has the best experiences!!!!!
If you have kids, take them to Shadow Monsters! On view until Sept 20. So fun. Especially on free Thursday. #shadowmonsters
Very cool! Lots of artifacts from all around the world. Only made it through one building, though. Definitely plan a couple of hours to make it through.
