The Downtown Boathouse is an all volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free public access to the harbor in NYC through public kayaking programs.

From May through October, you can take a trip down the Hudson River on one of the Downtown Boathouse’s free kayaks on weekends and select days throughout the week.
Simply walk up to any of its three locations sign a liability waiver , put on a life jacket , grab a kayak and a paddle, and you’re set for a 20-minute, free kayaking trip on the Hudson River . Read more
Free kayaking weekends and holidays mid-May to mid-October, and on many weekday evenings, weather permitting. No experience necessary. Bring a bathing suit or shorts/T-shirt, & a lock if you have one.
amazing volunteers, really fun. just sign a waiver (good throughout the whole season) and get out on the water! volunteer with them, they need more staff !
