Great collection of paintings and sketches from Gustav Klimt in an special exhibition . Upstairs there's a collection of challenging art pieces. It's a building with lots of character & a cozy coffee !
A cozy little museum with great art hanging on it's walls. Feel the stunningness of the Portrait of Adele . Don't wait for the ticketfree first friday of the month. Enjoy the pay as you wish admission.
Whenever I go, the line tends to be really long, but the museum is small and amazing plus it's only for adults and has some incredible things to see. And if they have a Klimt exhibit on, it's a must.
This is the premiere showcase in NYC for German and Austrian artworks. The Galerie is owned by Ronald Lauder (of the cosmetics empire), and it is a treasure. There is a cafe and a bookstore as well .
Museum for German and Austrian art from the early twentieth century. Located at Fifth Avenue and 86th Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
The Neue Galerie features early twentieth century German and Austrian art and design and has a feel of a residence rather than a museum . It also houses Cafe Sabarsky , a Viennese coffee house .
Going to Neue Galerie was a treat. Stopping by Cafe Sebarsky afterwards is a must. Try the cheese pastry with vanilla syrup and the beet salad !
Recently went for my 1st time to see the Degenerate Art exhibit . It's a small but excellent museum . Definitely worth visiting! Security is strict about certain things, only b/c the spaces are narrow.
A gem of a museum . Something truly special in a city full of great museums . I can't get the Klimt of Adele Bloch-Bauer out of my head. The clocks and decorative arts also delight.
Klimt & Schiele show coming 7/12-9/4/18. Otherwise, museum is small & not worth $20pp. FREE 1st FRI’s of every mo 6-9pm w/ museum shops + Café Sabarsky open for drinks, dinner & dessert until 9pm.
Most of the galleries occupy the upper floors. Photography is prohibited and bags must be checked in. There is a reproduction of "Lady in Gold" in the basement but it's just a poster.
A little pricey for a small museum , but an absolute must-see for anyone who appreciates early 20th Century German and Austrian art . The building alone is almost worth the price of admission.
Came for the Degenerate Art exhibition . The gallery was crowded but worth the visit. Students could get a discounted price of $10. Great selection at the book shop.
Early twentieth century German and Austrian art and design, with the feel of a residence rather than a museum . One of my favorite museums .
Housed in a 1914 mansion, this German-Austrian museum plays host to "Degenerate Art : The Attack on Modern Art in Nazi Germany, 1937." Wrap up with a linzertorte at Café Sabarsky . Thur-Mon: 11am-6pm
Hell of a security control here, but the Austrian and German paintings worth it. Don't miss the beautiful stairs.
Skip the $20 admission to see the beautiful Gustav Klimt painting by coming on the first Friday of the month from 6-8pm when admission is Free.
Due to COVID, you have to get your tickets in advance. When you go to their website, you can buy the tickets per time slot. Make sure to bring your ID and vaccination record.
Beautiful little museum designed by the same guy who built Frick. Only a couple floors means you don't need all day to see it. Free audio tour .
Small and cozy museum with a great location tucked on the corner across from the park . Worth it for Klimt's Golden Woman alone. Stunning!
It’s worth the entrance fee just to see the Klimts.
A small museum specializing in Austrian & German art including Klimt. Call ahead and find out if open late (on Fridays, for instance) for free admission .
Filled with twentieth century German and Austrian art , the small museum attracts fewer tourists than its Museum Mile counterparts, but maintains the same level of pedigree.
Very small but focused on Austrian & German Art . Definitely worth the short wait today to see a special exhibition including The Scream by Muench.
Incredible Austrian art on display, including Klimt. Call ahead and find out if open late (on Fridays, for instance) for free admission .
Cute little boutique museum that has some great special exhibits at time. Oh and you may have heard there’s a Klimt.
I've been there last week; At the time 3rd floor was closed. Probably for that reason admission was free. You can still check out Klimt's fabulous pieces on 2nd floor.

Small museum with a few really worthwhile paintings and drawings by Klimt, Shield and Co in a gorgeous old building .
An incredible museum devoted to early 20th-century German and Austrian art and design. Café Sabarsky , on the first floor, serves authentic wiener schnitzel .
Nice museum . If you like Max Beckmann, then this museum is a right place for you.
Amazing museum ,not big,but impressive collection especially Klimt, close to Metropolitan museum
Small, but outstanding collection. Visit the cafe while you are there. Feels like you are in Vienna.
Their exhibitions are extraordinary ( Klimt and cia) but what is interesting about this place is its quiet agenda, elegant setting , and ambiance at the Cafés ( Sabarsky and Fledermaus). Read more
Degenerate Art was very interesting. Note that the final room is one floor down from the main exhibition , past a room full of Klimt.
Neue Galerie has not one, but two delicious cafes outfitted with period objects and used for all cabaret, chamber, and classical music performances at the museum .
Current Exhibition : Degenerate Art -- check it out before it's gone.
For the uninitiated, visit here for the Central European tradition of fine art . Go beyond Paris.
NY. A beautiful German and Austrian art and design museum . A must-see if you are in NY. Read more
Beautiful building, see Climt's works and other selected Austrian artists
The woman in gold painting makes worthy the trip there. Just six paintings in the gallery as today.
Very very small gallery but the Woman in Gold is worth it. Head over on free Friday nights between 6-8pm. Not a large crowd and no wait to get in.
Klimt and Schiele. Student discount ($10) with ID.
Head to the lower level for a selfie op with a full-sized reproduction of Klimpt's portrait of Adele
Great shows, expensive admission and geat Cafe for lunch !
