One of the best Ethiopian restaurants I’ve been to (the other is Ghenet in Brooklyn). The meat platter and Awash special platter are great, and the tibs wat are delicious. Also, try the honey wine !
The Vegetarian Combo piles include beets , red lentils , yellow split peas , cabbage , gomen (collards cooked with garlic and onion ) and shiro (ground and spiced chickpeas ) sitting atop injera .
Ridiculously amazing Ethiopian. Try the Combo 1 - Chicken , Lamb and 3 vegetables . More than enough for 3 people or 4 meals if you decide to do take out like I did! Can't believe how good the food is.
Go for their $9 Lunch special and get their combo plate, which is two meats and two veggies . This allows you to try different dishes. The beef tips are a must, so seasoned, with side of chick peas .
Especially tasty is the vegetarian combo plate, which is essentially a big, spicy platter of all of Awashâs vegetable dishes on top of a spare salad of lettuce and tomatoes . Read more
Proportions are huge, but injetta their flat bread is great!! Make your own combos r better - red lentils are great if u can handle mild spice ! Service slow in the afternoons.. but great food!!
Among the city 's better Ethiopian restaurants . Vegetables are great here, but the tartare is our favorite dish.
Take the lunch or meat combo! Great options and a very good way to try a bit of several dishes
Great tasting food served on top of sour injera . Bring clean hands - no utensils here. Vegetarian options are fantastic as well ,
So awesome. Get the meat combo and a St. George lager . Huge restaurant , great Ethiopian
Leave here feeling full and content. The added touch was the Ethiopian Beer , Tea and Rum Cake !
Doro wot ($15) It is a classic dish from my birth country , Ethiopia. It reminds me of my brothers and sisters back there. My wife, Maya, cooks the best version of doro wot. Read more
The food is incredible--combos are an especially good deal--but the place has negative ambiance and is unbelievably stingy with the injera .
Try their meat sampler! Great value , tasty food, very filling for two people
Lentils and their meats are great
You didn't think that the Upper West Side (or New York, for that matter) had a decent Ethiopian restaurant ? The real action is in DC, but the sambusa at Awash is worth checking out.
The veggie combo is delicious!
Solid Ethiopian grub, a lot of food
Vegetable platter is unbelievable!
Their lamb dishes are great!!!
Red honey wine - made with fermented blackberries, not grapes .
Friendly service . Unpretentious. There's several African beers on the drink menu.
The lentils
Try the vegetarian combo , for two, three, or four.
Just order Number 2 Combo for two and bring your own bottle of wine ($10 corking)

Fantastic Eritrean option in the city. Their server Shamm is the bomb! Take her recommendation and enjoy the meal :-) - Elie Bleier
