I met chimchurri for the first time here and was hooked! The skirt steak was so tender! I tried blood sausage for the first time...very flavorful and rich. You can't go wrong with this place!!
We’re crushing on F&W Best New Chefs Greg & Gabrielle Denton! Don’t miss any of the Empanadas , Baked Ricotta , Caramelized Cauliflower , Sunchoke Gratin , the Maitake Mushroom or the Halibut Collar
Yes the wait is long, get some snacks and cocktails at Whey Bar next door, the smoked lamb heart starter and clam chowder are decadent, I enjoyed the artichoke and short ribs with a glass of Malbec .
Ox's mouthwatering menu, where vegetable and seafood dishes like Rainbow Chard and Clam Chowder crowned with Smoked Marrow Bone are as satisfying as the tender Skirt Steak . Read more
2 hour wait on a Saturday night, ended up being worth it. Amazing steak , chorizo , crispy potatoes with horseradish , chimichurrri, we sat at the bar near the grill, loved it.
Skirt steak , fish , and mushrooms with liver . Sit at the bar or near the fire. A little expensive but very good. They have some kinda special red wine they make or source or whatever that's real good.
Though meat hitting the grill is the main focus, both veggies and seafood represent well in homey dishes like hominy stew and braised octopus . [Eater Member 38]
Ways to spend a 2-hr wait? They do the brainstorming for you: grab a seat next to a stack of firewood at WheyBar for elite Portland cocktails . Once you're inside, ask what's coming off the wood grill.
Sit at the grill for front row view of the action. Fried Terrine , Skirt Steak (a touch above medium rare), artichoke and blistered peppers . Cake and you are done.
Excellent: Stardust (whiskey cocktail ), La Yapa (another whiskey cocktail ), both types of empanadas , ribeye steak , Brussels sprouts , tres leches cake . Okay: chorizo , hominy.
Everything is amazing, high quality beautifully prepared. Nice atmosphere, excellent service. It is very apparent that the Denton's deserve those awards and accolades
Clam chowder is worth the hype. If you're a small party, you might be able to get a seat at the bar and avoid the longer wait
Everyone will recommend the Asado Argentino , but also be sure to start with a cheese board , and end with a Rabid Mastiff. Quite possibly the best restaurant in Portland.
Clam chowder and skirt steak is phenomenal. But for the real foodies, start with the grilled lamb heart with arugula . Yum.
Top 5 restaurant . Chowder is unreal. The simple skirt steak couldn't be more flavorful. Side of mushrooms and ricotta has been amazing. Too small a restaurant sometimes and grill smell lingers.
Yes, it's an Argentine steakhouse but oysters and the halibut (served seasonally) are worth sacrificing a night of beef for.
The ribeye was incredible. The bone marrow chowder was a wonderful adventure. Everything was really delicious. This place is really special.
Portland food already tends to be good so I already feel a little particular. I didn't think there could be a next level but there WAS. This place is AMAZING and def worth a nice night out
amazing brussels sprouts and spaghetti squash - this place is not just for meat eaters!! cocktails are delish also, well made and great bartenders .
The hominy pozole was incredible. Always great food and staff is amazing. Small bar behind main restaurant to wait for your table.
Definitely can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And if there's a long wait , the bar next door, same owner has some quality drinks. Also don't forget that amazing sorbet dessert .
Everything was pretty great. If you order the ox terrine make sure you have a bite of the terrine before the frozen peas .
GREAT food. Grab a drink and some oysters at the bar in the back while you wait for your table.
Skip the Asado Argentino and just order the best meat on it: the skirt steak . (If you get the asado anyway they will do some substitutions.)
Order many dishes from the right side of the menu for the table for a wonderfully diverse and delightful meal!
The lamb shoulder was some of the best Lamb I have ever had - cooked to perfection! And the veggies were great too!
Amazing meats and sides! The foie gras mushroom !
Don't be turned off by the prices -- the food is meant to be shared family style , and the portions are large. Oh, and everything will taste AMAZING.
Cauliflower , artichoke and potatoes are all excellent, and the Pizzella is a great wine .
Everything! Delicious steak , awesome sides, superb service and a great atmosphere. A must visit.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Their smoked marrow clam crowder and skirt steak . Wow.
If you are sensitive to grill smoke it's not great. Get the 5 Seafood Preparations. Absolutely FANTASTIC !!! Don't get the shirt ribs unless you like mouthfuls of fat. Great service.
The humble short rib terrine is small and unassuming but easily more delicious on its own than the last three meals I've eaten elsewhere.
Truly great food. Excellently preparation and quality of flesh, perfectly undercooked as ordered. So happy.
Lamb is amazing! Great drinks and service. My favorite PDX restaurant .
Get a seat at the oven bar . Fantastic food with a show bonus!
Bone marrow with jalapeño over clam chowder soup , $18.
Argentinian inspired cuisine. Haven't had a chance to eat here myself, but have heard nothing but great things about it.
the kale and radicchio salad is fabulous!
Must try the Asado Argentino . Most excellent. So was everything. Just can't go wrong with anything on menu
Hands down one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Portland.
Great service amazing food. Worth the wai.
excellent service, good food, reasonably priced for the quality, extremely loud and hot (when it's warm outside)
Service was slow but the food was good. Mushroom and Foie gras side stoke the show, skirt steak was tender.
Great ribeye sides and wine .
Spicy tripe stew is a must have! Ribeye is perfect.
The sampler meat tray can easily feed three of you get 3-4 small plates .
The dessert "magic" is amazing. It taste like home made blackberry pie .
The chocolate olive oil cake is also fire
Just order cake . Don't skip dessert . Seriously, you have to order cake . I don't care if you hate cake . Order it.
This is place is by far the best steakhouse in Portland. Dim lighting, nice relaxing music, fabulous cocktails and the food is to die for. If you’re looking for a upscale experience this is your spot. - Darkest Hour Apparel
