Super old traditional pub with nice beer garden . Beer selection not good but still very much worth visiting after a walk over Arthur's Seat. Food on the pricey side but chips were excellent.
Used to be great but they have repainted it grey, have shit music and got rid of the board games , comfy chairs and stuffed animals. Still worth a visit on a sunny day for a pint in the beergarden.
Fabulous food! Fabulous pub ! Fish& chips were soooo good! Not enough mushy peas for my liking but still good.
If you want dinner , make a reservation . Highly unlikely you’ll walk in and find a place. Unless you want to sit at the bar side. Lovely place.
Olde worlde pub that seems miles away from the city . Great selection of ales .
Perfect setting for a glass of beer after walking Arthur's Seat in a traditional authentic pub
Oldest pub in Edinburgh in a great location at Arthur Seat. Good food and service
Nice atmosphere, food is delicious and portions are huge
Very authentic warm and friendly . Good food. Old fashioned skittles.
Order four days in advance, it might be ready by the time you are ready to eat, subject to it being in stock. Which is unlikely. I'm bitter, I've been waiting for ages...
Very warm and cosy friendly staff interesting different menu. Good food, service quite slow though.
authentic warm and friendly . Good food. Old fashioned skittles.
Try the share platter for desserts ! The chocolate mouse is absolutely deli !
The kind of olde worlde pub (from 1360!) that you don't get much in Scotland. Close to the city but feels like the countryside, pleasant patio garden in the summer, occasional unusual ale fests Read more
Cozy atmosphere with good food and friendly service
Brilliant for bites big and small. Happy they serve staropramen
Not the finest roast dinner I have ever had. Pastry and Yorkshire pudding ok, but the beef & ale pie was lacking taste and the side of butternut squash was quite simple. Gravy pretty tasteless too.
Lovely place
The food is great. The staff is friendly . But it takes FOREVER. They seem to be severely understaffed.
ooh, it's new! a fine pint along with authentic surroundings. shame about the musak. food looks grand.
Her Royal Highness The Queen dined here!
Everything!
Great spot for a weekend walk
Not very friendly service . Very crowded downstairs. Nice coffee cocktails but they cost a lot
Great stylish pub ! Loved it.
Food looks better than it tastes but it's okay because I'm here for drinks and the outdoor patio
Place looks great but the steak and ale pie was a let down @ £11.50. Bland. Also my daughters fish had too many bones...made worse as it was from the kids menu . Won't be rushing back. Shame.
Not quite the pub I remember it to be - been gentrified - will continue to monitor.
Best bowl of chips I've had in a long time!
Come for a beer and the patio but give the dining room a miss! The service is laughably bad and slow. Incorrect orders and out of items which were not advised until ordered. Best go somewhere else!
great atmosphere, slow service and food, although LOOKED good, tasted average =(
Cozy place...
excellent fish & chips Read more
Average food and mediocre service
Avoid the haggis - bit dry.
Der Garten ist sehr gemütlich und lädt gerade nach der Wanderung vom Arthurs Seat auf einen Köstlichen Cider Ein. Hab leider nicht gegessen darum kann ich darüber nichts sagen
They hold a Pub Quiz every Monday evening. It can be quite tough, but if you have a decent team it's also one of the better, more original ones. - Jim Ross
Try the Burgers, very good selection ,very tasty and perfect size. Service is very good and helpfull! - Hendrik Roeger
Wow - great food, beers & lovely staff. Had the chilli death burger - yum! Sweet potato fries - yum! - Kurius Grrl
Excellent views of Edinburgh! Bring a camera and a picnic. Worth the 45 minute hike. - Ryan McGuire
The loch is hidden behind the hills of Holyrood park making a perfect romantic spot away from the busy Old Town. Beautiful and dramatic loch. - Maria Holt
This is a beautiful hidden garden full of intrigue and serenity. A great place to walk and talk with friends or to take time by yourself. - Paul Lambie
