Hollywood Sign

While you cannot get close enough to touch the sign, you can still get pretty close – hike the Hollyridge Trail to see the sign from above, and if the weather is clear the views are amazing.

Hollywood sign is beautiful, but it's hard to take a picture next to it from the front. There are very specific location to do take a shot of it though fromthe Griffths Observatory or Runyon canyon.

Guests looking to hike to the Hollywood Sign can take one of three trails to get there – Bush Canyon Trail , Hollyridge Trail and Wonder View Trail .

I didn't really care to see the Hollywood sign but decided to do a drive by. Must say the view was still pretty cool. You do have to drive up a very steep road to get to the top but still very cool

The way to get to the behind the sign view , right behind the radio towers (i.e. the closest you can get) is a long hike there and back. But the view you get along the way and at the end, is incredible

Taking a picture with Hollywood sign is a must do in LA. The best place to take a picture with hollywood sign is Canyon Lake Dr. That's the closest location you can get to the sign by car.

The sign was originally constructed in 1923 to promote a subdivision at the top of Beachwood Canyon called Hollywoodland; "land" would later be dropped in 1945 when the area was deeded to the city .

While the sign’s grounds are barred from public access, you can still get great angles for photos. From Franklin go N on Beachwood; turn L at Ledgewood. Right at the 3-way intersection onto Deronda.

Hike all the way up to the back side of sign. As you come down do the center for some pics. Pack a lunch and attempt to hike in the mornings summer time.

Seems that it's impossible to get on Mt Lee Dr by car. Tried several roads but every time was barred with a barrier. So be ready to hike at some point ;)

It's a long walk took me about an hour but the views of the city is well worth it. Bring light clothing and plenty to drink you're going to need it

LA Times publisher Harry Chandler dedicated the Hollywoodland sign in 1924 to publicize his new Beachwood Canyon subdivision. Each 50 foot letter was once covered in lights. Now that’s advertising!

Don't hike after sunset . You will probably get lost on the trails . If you do get lost don't panic, just trying find a trail that goes down the canyon.

You can do it! Don't give up! Once you see the letters keep going near the gates and turn left. climb the short peak for the ultimate view !

A great spot for pictures. Definitely a must visit while in the city of angels .

Ok this is just something you have to do once in your life. It took about 45 minutes to hike up to this fuckin thing. Bring water.

it took me three trips to california before i finally got to see it. try the hollywood bowl overlook off of mulholland dr ! breathtaking.

Be sure to visit the "W"! It's one of the best letters to see there!!!

I recommend a nice hike and enjoy the sunset perched next to this sign before this city starts looking any more like Kurt Russel experienced it in Escape From L.A. Don't forget to bring champagne !!

Few people know that after an ill-advised experiment involving a jetpack, I had to replace the "y" in "Hollywood." You will likely be unable to verify this information. Like I said, few people know.

Bring sunscreen ! Also print out a map to help guide you to the front or the back of the sign. The trails are not marked in this area.

One of the best places to see the Hollywood sign is at the scenic view point on Mulholland dr . And at Runyun Canyon.

Early morning is the best time to go there..sunrise here is mesmerizing

Go in the middle of the night, hop the fence, and be wary of the IR sensors / cameras on the back of the "O," and you may be able to touch the sign before the helicopters come.

If you want to go behind the Hollywood sign make a hard left at the first fork in the road and then make a right at the next fork.

Hike to the top(behind the sign) is awesome!!

Take Franklin to Gower then up to Vansata Dr. Small canyon road for a great view ! Very narrow roads but worth it for great view !

Hollyridge Trail is hot and hard but well worth it!

You can get a great photo of the Hollywood Sign at the Hollywood & Highland Center after sunset .

You didn't come early enough. Sunrise is where it's at.

there's a fence there at the top so you cant touch the sign. If you try to go around the sign, helicopter will come, police will warn you, then arrest you if you don't leave immediately.
