Come 20 minutes early at least — security checks can be long. Thursdays seems dedicated to newly minted citizens. Shorter lines , folks sometimes dress up for the occasion, somewhat emotional.

If you are going for a Green Card Interview show up early there is a wait to get into the building that takes about 30 minutes add that to your time.

If you come by car, park at 88 Leonard St and print out $5 off coupon online. Its literally one block away and Parking can be overpriced in the city .

Be prepared for a wait at security. Great views .

Be prepared for a long line and take off your shoes at security checkpoint.

Give yourself at least 15-20 minutes before an appointment to go through security check.

There's sometimes a vendor in the lobby who sells books & misc. items. Proceeds are donated to FedKids.

Pray you don't get the short lady whom speaking Spanish as her first language. She is tough and mean.

I would say that the only reason for it to be depressing, mildly or otherwise, is the distinct lack of specific company... :)
