Culturally significant this magnificent castle built in 1908 is an excellent example of what a Swedish immigrant can do with his news paper empire, FIKA and the new wing is a great community space.
Edwardian-era palace linked to a contemporary cultural center . Great place to visit, cafe with tasty Swedish goodies and a gift shop . The Turnblad mansion is spectacular, over-the-top opulence.
Go see the Christmas exhibit this year, they added a new room, the Mexican Christmas room is very well done, also the restored kitchen, pantry and servant dining room is a new surprise for this year.
I love this place so much it's so pretty and fun to explore. During the holiday season it's all decorated and so beautiful.
Tour of the Turnblad mansion is worth the price of admission. Plenty of events on the calendar, including language classes . Gift shop has good selection of gifts from Sweden .
Keep a lookout for their Cocktails at the Castle special events (one in Spring, one in Fall). Amazing parties that attract an eclectic crowd of all ages (21+). So much fun and so much to do/see/try!
Absolutely beautiful house and when I went in December it was decorated with these beautiful Christmas decorations ! Must see !
Fika is fabulous and worth the wait. You can always wander around the Swedish Institute while you are waiting for your table!
With its modern building expansion, the ASI's museum store has expanded its offerings considerably to celebrate modern Scandinavian design, with a few sacred nods to the past, such as Dala horses.

I had a carrot soup that I can't stop dreaming about. So smooth and rich! I wish they would bring it back to the menu! Great service!
Great special events here. Not to be missed: Swedish glass blowing, crayfish festival , and a fully operational lutefisk launcher.
