One of the most beautiful in the world. The first basilica of St Peter had been built by order of emperor Constantine on the spot of Peter’s tomb, near the circus of Nero where he had been martyrized. Managed by the Rome's Tourism Dept. in collaboration with //Avanti Concept Agency
Piazza San Pietro 00120 Vatican Holy See (Vatican City State)
Wi-Fi | Yes |
Vatican and many beautiful historical and religious sites. Don't forget 2 bring ur best camera and bottled water. U can find a shop selling all about vatican's goods at the left corner of da entrance.
Go late at night for a sense of things without the usual crowd of tourists . Can't walk all the way in as the police block it, but that close look at St Peter's cathedral by night is well worth it.
Magnificent square ...very impressive !!!! Go to see the Pope when give the blessing to the crowds-Sundays at 12 noon - busy but it was amazing.Truly a moving and powerful experience!
The trapezoid & the oval colonnade of the piazza, forming the teatro of San Pietro as conceived by Alexander VII Chigi & Bernini together, form a.i.w. the arms of the basilica, embracing the faithful.
Beautiful architecture , the Basilica is huge and absolutely stunning! The visit is free don't buy the "Skip the line " tickets from the people selling them on the way there, it's not worth it.
Huge piazza in front of saint Peter's basilica. On the left as you see the church are the swiss guards of pope . After a visit to the church , take photos and admire one of the greatest squares ever!
Pro tip: if you don't have reserved tickets for the Wednesday audience with the pope in the piazza, talk with a Swiss Guard they might give you one ????????????????????????
After all these years the architecture still has a total wow factor. A great view of St Peters and a must have photo opportunity
Crowded due to security checks; better reach there early morning. Get into the church and climb to dome. Afterwards visit vatican museums at noon. So that it gets less crowded .
For an interesting perspective on the square, find the round plaques that read "Centro del Colonnato" (there are two) — you'll see all the column rows on your side lined up perfectly, like one column.
I had the chance to attend both the Christmas Eve's mass led by the Pope , and the 'Urbi et Orbi" blessing on Christmas Day. Two unforgettable experiences within a magnificent place.
Entering just Piazza San Pietro is free if you are patient enough to stand in the line . However, if you wish to tour the chapel and museum as well , start your way from the museum .
Very high secured place, but it is worth to stay in lone to het there and get a closer look. The place is huge and gives really a great feeling!
To skip the line : wake up early. Go to the Basilica at 7AM. Don't forget to climb to the Dome if your heart is in good condition :)
Magnificent square! Many believers are coming here and it looks great. Edges of the square present hands of the God who hugs his kids. Perfect work of Michelangelo.
The grand plaza in front of the Basilica. Get there early to see it without a crowd or queues - the sheer size will be enough to impress you, before you even see the rest of the attractions !
Very beautiful and worth the stroll around. However the food on the main strip is absurd and expensive . Inside the vatican museum the food is chaper.
A huge plaza in front of St. Peter's Church where you can admire the beauty of the Vatican architecture and take some cool pics!
Wonderful Square. Very impressive architecture . A Rome must see
Nice square, come in the morning as the sun behind the Basilica in the evening will ruin your photos.
There are two marble spots either side of the obelisk in the middle of the square. If you can stand and look at the colonnade from here, you can only see the one pillar in each row.
If you visit St.Peter's Basilica cupola (dome), pay the extra 1Euro for the elevator to the inside roof. It's a really tough climb. For the top outside view it's a further climb of steps 320 steps.
Worthy of your iPhones Pano mode ????????. Hang back for a great shot of the entire square and try and shoot for super early to beat the crowds! ????????????
Imressive. Cathedrals , monuments , columns- all these creates unforgettable view . Once you are in Rome, try to visit this place for sure!
Huge and enormous entrance to the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. Spend some time to enjoy the enormity and large crowd.

Absolutely amazing. On wednesdays you can see the pope. The queue is so long you can wait for hours to go inside the cathedral.Better later in the evening.
Great place. You have to wait very long in the queue to get in, but it is it worth. And if you get in, buy a ticket and go straight to the top, trust me.
THE Roman Catholic church . The climb to the cupola (dome) is a truly surreal and interesting experience. Beehive tip: use the elevator – even with the help of the elevator it’s quite a climb.
The icon centre of the Catholic Church and the amazing backdrop of its public rituals
Paulus V Borghese ordered the construction of the northern fountain by Maderno in 1615, which was mirrored by Bernini , who made the fountains to appear to be the foci of the ovato tondo, in 1675.
Great space which holds a lot of meaning in it. When we visited there was something going on there, as there were chairs and music , but very interesting to see
If you are at San Pietro, the best place to go for an ice cream , coffee , snack or pastries is Pappagallo Bar . It's just around the corner from you. Search on 4 square for the location.

Busy busy place but worth the visit. Just make sure you book your tickets online, before you get there!
The best time to go is during the night. The church is lit up and you are almost alone.
Good to visit before 10am and after 4pm
Spacious and amazing. It is first thing You see before entering St.Peters Cathedral .
Take a long route and walk through here on your way home from a late night out-- it's one of the most beautiful things you'll see.
Very impressive. Most visited on Wednesdays. Sunday afternoon relatively few visitors.
Incredible architecture very big open space in front of St. Pietro Basilica
Went inside the Basilica many years ago (15?), so I'll skip the long queues and here's a photo from outside ????
Go to the top I walked all the steps and YES it is exhausting but totally worth the view ! Amazing view from the very top! Loved it want to go back all ready!
Amazing piazza, must visit
You can go to the square for free if you don't want to go into the church (or don't have time to wait in the line ).

You have to visit this place when you're in Rome and the Vatican. End of January decorated with a christmas tree seems to be strange...
