A Chicago institution from Marshall Field’s Dept. Store heyday. Not as elegant as it used to be, but still fun for lunch . Serves classic favorites-the traditional pot pie is a must. Sit by the windows
Around Christmas there is a long wait before 12pm. But if you come about 9am or 10am you can get right in at the time you want to eat. You can check in and get a pager and have time to look around
MRS. HERING'S 1890 ORIGINAL CHICKEN POT PIE (Individual crock of creamy chicken , carrots , sweet corn , leeks , peas , flaky pie crust top, side of Walnut Room salad )
Kitchen closes at 8, which is a problem for an after work dinner . The pot pie is really good. Half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays .
Good food. Excellent iced tea . waiters , linens and an interesting view in an old-fashioned restaurant . Prices are VERY modest. And you can always (except at holidays) walk in without a reservation
Fantastic meal -- great food, great atmosphere at almost criminally low prices. Frango mint cheesecake is wonderful!
I was afraid they might have changed the recipe for the meatloaf from 10+ years ago when I came here as a child with my mom. I'm overjoyed they haven't. It's still delicious!!
The food was awesome to eat the service was great and fast . If you do get Chicago you should go there and eat ..
If you want to fully enjoy The Walnut Room...the go on a weeknight for dinner . Sat right next to the tree and had no wait for a table.
Lovely ambience and rather quiet after the dinner crowd
We're here for Christmas Dinner Buffet . Everything is good!
Sip on the recommended Beverages and get a 2013 limited edition holiday mug while supplies last.
Get there early for the best seats by the tree ! Such a wonderful place to begin a family tradition.
Good home cooking with a friendly atmosphere . Must order the bread pudding .
They have good deals during happy hour and it’s WAY less crowded .
November 2 is Tree Lighting bring your family to begin the holidays with us and enjoy great food!!!
Good place to wind down after a day of shopping
Swen! Great waiter ! And of course a must is the pot pie .
Fantastic pot pie ! Best I have ever had!
Sit by the window - decent view of the city . Their chicken pot pie is perfection.
Head to the 8th floor for photos and lounge on the couches . The Marshall field 's staff is wonderfully tolerant of loungers !
The cheese plate isn't anything too special, but it's pretty good.
Great views and the Chicken Pot Pie
Lobster bisque was a bit on the salty side...be prepared for a wait or reserve a spot and go shop until your buzzer goes off.
Not a lot has changed in this room since the hostile takeover. Still a great place for a midday break
complimentary limited edition Christmas mug with a specialty drink !
Get the chicken pot pie , and enjoy 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday
Do not come a Christmas . They open at 6:45 and before noon it is a 4 hour wait ! Come back when you have a chance of getting in.
Delicious walnut salad !
They wear tuxedos . It's amazing.
Pot pie is a classic.
A Chicago institution but service is spotty
This is THE place to be around Christmas . The tree in the room is SPLENDID!
Great crab cakes ! :)
Blt Burger !
So beautiful at Christmas .
Service was awful. Food was not that great. Atmosphere looked great around the tree but in the back corner where we were, it was crowded and hectic. Don't waste your time on this place.
Go for the atmosphere, not the service.
$5 Fridays, selected wines and cocktails for $5.
Even the places that try to be classy are sadly failing. Still =)'ing tho!
Terrible burgers and fries . Service was even worse. No water or bread came, even after the soup arrived, until we asked for it. Lobster bisque was not tasty either.
Ask to sit by the Christmas tree :)
Plan ahead. 4+ hour wait to eat
It is Marshall Fields , not Macys.
Don't go. It's nasty and bland
Apos comprar na Macys va ao setimo andar, linda vista, precos justos.
Amé el árbol navideño y el pastel de carne el mejor que he probado ????
Great home-style cooking like meatloaf and mashed potatos. The swedish meatballs are great! Also has sandwiches and burgers. Basically is a food court with home- cooking! In basement level. - bauhausblack
Great food, great servers & an excellent place to watch sports! - Dave Bump
Gnocchi is amazing! Also brunch peach pancakes are delious. Great atmosphere on the patio. - Arcena Thomas
Excellent food court on the 7th floor! The salmon nicoise salad is a work of art!! - Jamie Iacobucci
Great venue surrounded by trees, a little grass, a little concrete, picnic tables & chairs...and of course great music. - Kay Burnett
At the intermission now and have to say that the first act was really excellent - funny, fun and very well done. Highly recommend if you get a chance - it’s only here for 2 weeks. - Inigo Montoya
