Halló, this is Iceland on the Foursquare. Welcome to my Geysir. I know it is sleeping, but all the geysers in the world are named after it, so please show some respect and try not to fall into it. Watch out for Strokkur. It is not not sleeping.
Haukadalur 801 Bláskógabyggð Iceland
Part of the infamous Golden Circle , this Geysir park is exploited to the max for mass tourism . If you want to enjoy it in peace (assuming it's summer) visit it at midnight for a unique experience. Read more
This is my Geysir. I know it is sleeping, and my Strokkur is erupting more right now (but all the geysers in the world are named after it, so please show some respect and try not to fall into it).
Part of a Golden Circle Tour . It is strickingly amazing. Be careful, it is 80-100 degrees, and don't step on anywhere other than designated walking pavement. It is really hot!
Amazing Geysir & the most beautiful geysir in Iceland. Water explosion is every 2 minutes so prepare your camera to take a nice picture.
Nature can be so phenomenal!!! This place is definitely a crowd puller.. loved the experience of the geysir shooting up.. red soil.. boiling water.. had never imagined such things could be real..
Amazing !!! Geysir explosion period is 3 minutes. Get ready for a perfect shot . Visit for free. A big mall near it.
The city of Geysir names it - so make sure you plan to see this amazing natural spectacle
One of the most important attractions of the Golden Circle . Stokkur pops every 5-6 minutes.. In the opposite side there is a touristy coffee-restaurant and some gift shops . Too expensive though.
Open Google Maps directly from Foursquare and the GPS coordinates will lead you right to the empty parking lot
Wait 2-3 mins for the small geysir eruption , nice to see the larger dormant geyser too! (P.S. smells like eggs ????)
Enjoy a fancy lunch at the visitor center bistro . They source all ingredients locally! (and the dining room is gorgeous.)
He was asleep in June '16, but his smaller brother Strokkur did entertain us with frequent beautiful eruptions
Once you see the Geysir, have a walk around and look for the gnomo!!
The most heavily tourist populated of the Golden Circle attractions . Be prepared to share the view with many others in the Summer.
Bring some eggs , cook it in the Getsir and kicked out :)
What an amazing experience. Get your cameras up and if you have slow motion, this is the best time to use
One of the best tourist centres I've ever seen. The geyser itself erupts pretty regularly, you should expect a big crowd.
Great photos, but overcrowded. Its better to visit this attraction at night, especially during summer
This place is a must and free to go the geyser Erups very frequently which is just stunning
Geysir! Go to the top of the hill for a great view .
Frequent eruptions (every 2-8 minutes)! Truly unique experience. Don't get too close and careful not to slip on the ice!
Patience my friend, the Geysir blows once every 5 or so minutes like clockwork
Cool watching the steam rise from the earth. Eat at the cafe for lunch not the hamburger joint
Amazing to see, slightly hard to remain on your feet on a cold, windy day but well worth the effort.
Don't stop at the small little hot springs , that not where the big show is. You need to walk further up!
Great stop between Thingvellir and Gullfoss.
It was amazing experience to see exploding geysirs!
Expensive but delicious lunch with a view . Easy walk to geysers and there's no charge!
Get your camera ready for that perfect shot .
Stukkor geyser was erupting every 7 minutes - get your video camera ready!
Hike up the trail to see an amazing view of the valley
I hope you are lucky and patient to se one “erupt ” they are magnificent
It was a bit of a rainy day, but honestly mostly it was a couple of acres of smelly steaming pools. The geysir that erupts is sufficiently fun to make it a worthwhile trip despite the tourist horde
geysir spits out every five minutes or more. if u r lucky, it spits 3 times at one
Amazing sight, but to many people here. Get here at night
It's odd to me that all of the pictures of Geysir on 4Sq are actually of Strokkur ; Geysir hasn't erupted in years.
Must stop and visit the mother of all geysirs.
Nice to walk around!
Hike to the top of the mountain for great views .
A bit touristy but awesome to see the geyser go off.
Come with light so you can apreciate the hole show
Definitely worth a trip, nature at its most amazing
While Geysir is pretty much dormant these days, make sure to check out the smaller Strokkur which erupts regularly every 4-8 minutes.
Erupts every 5-10 mins.
Bring a raincoat & stand downwind of the geysir when it erupts . Epic.
Explodes every 5 minutes. The food court is insanity...no organization , people pushing, can't find trays. Lines are too long when you have a bus to catch.
Come earlier in the morning. Not as many tourists !
There is now a 600KR charge now to go to the hot springs . Have some cash handy.
A true spectacle of nature.
incredible place
Strokkur and its surrounding areas regularly attracts tourists to view the geyser, as it is one of very few natural geysers to erupt frequently and reliably. - Tansu
Fascinating. Walked around the top of the large crater. - Clark Cone
This is a real hotpot! - Ralph Müller-Eiselt
The greatest part of our trip! Natural geothermal spring was an amazing time to unwind. Very clean and well maintained. Relaxed for over an hour in the hot water. Be sure to pay in the landowners box. - Ryan Bishop
The most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. Big and amazing with many view and photo spots to take photos. There are two parking slot and there is a cafe to enjoy a coffee or tea. - Majed Alashari
Beautiful park worth both a visit in summer and winter. - Mike Scherzer
