The best bet is to go for the full omakase , where you can expect dishes such as uni on corn custard , halibut topped with copious shaved black truffle , and “Japanese birthday cake ." Read more

Try the omikase. It's an amazing sampling of sushi . All excellent, though the uni is definitely an acquired taste.

It's all exquisite, whether you order from the menu or opt for one of the three omakase menus. "A", "B", and "C", range from expensive to extravagant, but they're all worthwhile treats. Read more

Probably my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in L.A. Get these three dishes - Kanpachi sashimi , halibut sashimi with truffle , and seared toro sashimi . Those are always amazing.

DailyCandy

Though there are many cooked dishes (grilled Chilean sea bass ) and nonfish options (simmered black pork ), this Sushi Row staple has lasted more than twenty years because of its high-quality sashimi .

LA Weekly

The sushi and sashimi are pristine — if you’re lucky, you’ll get something truly special, such as a recent wild yellowtail called himi kan buri. Read more

Incredible service, very warm and accommodating. Standouts were the salmon , seabass lettuce & halibut with truffle

Shige, Macha, Tetsu & Kogi are all amazing! I swear by the Red Snapper sashimi , could eat 10 plates of it! Spanish mackerel sushi & Spicy halibut sushi are also incredible! This IS the place!!! <3

Expect to drop a large sum of cash here.....very expensive but worth it! They will bring out things you have probably never tried before and the presentation is awesome!

No reservations at the counter. If possible, sit at the longer side of the counter. Omakase for first timers, but go for the nigiri--it's Edomae style. Best in Los Angeles.

Very creative omakase - started with Uni for a change. Inventive combinations meant absolutely no soy sauce needed the entire meal. Lovely!

Ventura Boulevard is wall-to-wall with sushi bars but the most unique, one-of-a-kind sushi experience is Asanebo. Don't ask…just enjoy. -David Applebaum, Launch My Line

Try the Kazunoko (Herring Roe ) With Kelp - So delicious, might be my favorite sashimi now!

The only displeasure to be found at Asanebo (unless you happen to be a prawn !!!) comes with the check, which will be high....

Christiana Gagen

Omakase is a great deal. Desserts definitely worth it.

Amazing kanpachi . Halibut + black truffle . Everything is amazballs. I thought I had been to the best sushi places in the valley until I came here.

Akiko I

Very overrated and overpriced sushi bar . Go "Sushi Zo", "Sushi Sushi " and "Kiyokawa" - they are way better quality and cheaper excellent sushi unlike here. No wonder you don't see Japanese here..

Halibut sashimi with fresh black summer truffle .... WOW
