If Black Rock is swarming with snorkelers you can get some lovely fish action just swimming out about 100 feet from the Whaler , KBR area...not quite as many fish but a lovely variety and lots of space
Best beach on Maui! Great sand, great snorkeling , heavenly sunsets !! You have to go at least once in your lifetime! =)
Gorgeous place, there are MANY different beaches , south Kaanapali, north kaanapali and many littler ones, all with their own unique features. Choose wisely!!!! ....and spend lots of time here!
Black Rock - great for cliff diving and snorkeling (can see turtles ). Be careful of rip currents. Stay for Sheraton sunset torch lighting ceremony and cliff diver.
Just got back from the vacation of my life. My family ranged from ages 80-8 and we all had an amazing time, will be going back.
If you are bothered by the hordes at Black Rock , just swim out about 50 feet from the whaler and you hit a nice reef with less dense fish life but you will have it mostly to yourself
We saw four spotted eagle rays today snorkeling around the reef at black rock !! We also saw a small shark (possibly a white tip reef shark)!
Go resort hopping and try different restaurants and cocktails along the way! Photo from Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Read more
Great beach ! The water is nice and calm with beautiful reefs, such a nice place to snorkel or chill by the beach
A beautiful area of Maui with gorgeous beaches . A great way to see it is from the water at sunset . Read more
Loved this beach ! Parking is a bit sparse (and expensive in the garages ), but the soft sand and snorkeling is where it's at!
This is one of the big resort parts of the Island . Green and beautiful with great beaches to watch the sunset from.
Beautiful clear waters and white sand . We even saw sea turtles swimming by us when in the water.
Easy snorkeling here. You can see fish , urchin , and sometimes even turtles , within wading distance from the shore. Even better if you swim out around the corner.

A nice beach to relax on. There are better snorkeling north of here but this beach also allows for some swimming so it's a good mix.
Among the best snorkeling and paddle boarding on the island . Wear proper sunscreen so the area stays protected.
swim farther out past black rock . saw a spotted eagle ray and huge schools of fish ! also loved walking the entire beach ...very relaxing! sunset is nice with views of lanai and molokai.
The beach is beautiful but the waves are rough!! Great for kids - not so great for adults wading in the water, unless you want to get knocked down by the massive waves!
Eat at Sonz @ Swan Court. Super old school. Like they make sure you have your cocktail before they give you the menu. The waiters are fully dressed in long sleeves and ties.
Great sand and big stretch, however lots of hotels sit here and can get a bit crowded .
Fun beach and there is a sea turtle that frequents this area around sunset
Get pictures of the beach every 6 hours and watch the beauty of water hues change. 6am, 12pm and 6pm
A bit touristy because of its location by the Sheraton, but still pretty quiet early in the day. Join the locals and jump off Black Rock !
Black Rock has great snorkeling and ppl jumping into the water from above. Cool place!
One of our favorites. Best sand.
Beautiful place for a sunset but plan to share it with a few others.
The burger at Maui Fish and Pasta in Whaler 's Village is one of the best in town !
Great conditions for stand-up paddle boarding. You can bring snorkel gear on your board over to Black Rock .
Very nice and relaxing beach .
gentle waves and smooth sand, great for kids
Fun with incredibly crystal clear water!
as others have said, the snorkeling by black rock is good and easy to get to! Try the Hula Grill, the food was fantastic
The best snorkeling is at Black Rock on Kaanapali Beach . Check it out, and have fun!
Crowded and touristy , all restaurants look good but food and service are sub-par, especially Leilani's and Hula Grill. Ok for happy hour but stay away for dinner . Whalers Village is nice to walk.
Sit, relax, close your eyes, take in a deep breath, exhale all of troubles of the world. Open your eyes.
Considering chartering the uncrowded Aikane X5 which departs directly from Ka'anapali Beach. Read more
Grab two beers and plant yourself beach side on a hammock at the Marriott. I slept like a baby each day and it never gets old. Aloha!
One of my favorite places in the world. Thinking of moving here! =)
Must hit. Went in Oct. Warm water and not overcrowded. Plenty of restaurants nearby
Great stay..fabulous staff clean facility ..great value
Beat the mid-day heat -- find a cool spot under a tree :-)
Beautiful sunsets . Every night. Love this place.
Great spot for swimming with the family. Take a paddle
Crowded , but still a great place to hang out.
Such a nice beach , great for snorkeling
Saw an amazing 22' tiger shark eating a dead sea turtle in the water off the beach once. Incredible sight.
Be sure to bring your camera for the sunrise and sunsets . They are amazing.
Make sure you tie your swimsuit tight. Just incase you get a sneak attack from a wave ...
Great swimming/floating beach .
Great snorkeling for all ages. Calm and protected shallow entry alongside rocks with deep water access right off of the point. Great swimming area for kids. - Beach Vacations Firsthand
The nearby by Burger Shack restaurant now takes phone orders and will deliver lunch directly to you on the beach. The menu features signature burgers and sandwiches and over-the-top milkshakes. - The Ritz-Carlton
Amazing snorkeling just off the beach, lots of fish to see - Burt Herman
Leilani's is the best place for food. I have to go at least once' although we normally go a couple times. I personally like the main dining room the best which is only open for dinner. - Kaitlyn Matyuch
