Great place for true foodies to get supplies. Real butchers , cheeses , spices & fish providers with veggies too. Like a walk back in time. Smells can be a bit strong though (good & bad)
Peruse the famed Italian Market and sample a variety of cheeses and fresh fruit - just don't try to return an already eaten piece of fruit like Mac does for Charlie in an episode of Always Sunny.
Just walk along and soak up everything! Dibruno Bros is always a good choice.
Pasta , cheese , cheap fruits & veggies , clean and convenient. Snack on samples along the way.
From the fish to the vegetables , you will find plenty of fresh food , just few steps away from the city center.
This is my favorite place in Philadelphia! Great produce at reasonable prices. Try going on a food tour of the Italian Market, it's a great way to try the original places but also Asian and Mexican.
Amazing market filled with plenty of old and new Italian goods and eateries . Check out freetoursbyfoot.com for a great food tour by Jenn! Tip well !
Also try Tortilleria San Roman at 951 S. 9th! FRESH, homemade tortillas daily. The blue corn tortillas and chips are to die for but get there early on the weekends because they sell out quick.
Best produce stand for the novice: Scott & Judy's at the north end of the market . Best for the pro who knows what to look for: Paul & Frances Giordano at Washington Avenue.
Opened in the 1880s by Antonio Palumbo, the Italian Market is America's Oldest Outdoor Market . While the Italian fare remains great, it's also home to some of the best Mexican and Asian food in town .
Try Nina's, the new BYO near the spice shop. Food is delish, owners nice and it really is the best Italian food on the market . More sophisticates than the other, more traditional spots.
Many places in the market are cash only . Make sure to have some on hand. If buying produce, check out a few stands before selecting. The next one always seems to have better deals and product
Great café lounges . Http://belmontcafe.myorganogold.com/preferred-customer
It's a fading tradition but the stalls are there and it's a nice place to stroll through on a sunny Sunday.
Nina's is awesome! We like to get many small plates and bring a couple of bottles. Definitely try the ricotta gnocchi and the grilled radicchio.
Game meats , cured meats , a billion kind of sausages , imported cheeses , herbs, REAL BUTCHERS. Foodies & Cooks can find a million meals to make with what's for sale here.
Fresh eats and lots of character...a charming Philly experience.
Classic Philadelphia spot for food shopping or just plain walking around.
Worth a walkthrough during any trip to Philly.
the vegetables are such good deals instead of buying them at chain stores. Ethnic markets are always cheaper, so come and save a few bucks
Ohhhh my oh my oh my. There are Italian people, and then there are people who pose as Italians when talking about food. Go here. That is all.
This guy's artwork is a amazing. I saw it all over DC and now prints of it are appearing all over Philly. I heard he is homeless... Who are you!!!?
Delicious chocolate , deli meats , cheese , and culture????
Find ben south of Washington. Say hello and pay games for prizes. And of course grab some Isgros !!!
Esposito's has good quality meats for a great deal!
DiBruno Bros. fans MUST visit the original store, located here, for that old-time feel and atmosphere!
Get there early before the tourists if you are a regular
Check all the stalls out and maybe get a taco .
Open weeklong, historic, and so much more affordable than other similar locations throughout the city , like Reading Terminal
I just like this market , clean and convenient place.
