Portico d'Ottavia

Explore the area surrounding the Portico d'Ottavia, ancient Augustan monument which the Emperor had built to honor his sister Octavia, and which until the 19th hosted a curious fish market

As usual the best part of the ruins story is how the structure has been reused and repurposed throughout history.

Beatyfull portico just beside teatro Marcello, look for the fresco . Bonus tip! Just behind the portico you can find one of only few preserved roman houses from the middle ages!

Currently under construction but can still see outside.
