A beautiful quiet space to escape the hubbub of the city . See the La Trobe Reading Room, it's a beautiful space with a glass dome, but chairs in the Redmond Barry are more comfortable . Also free wifi !
Free wifi , good collection of books , a nice photo site for tourist , good place for people watching (from rants to choir ) easily accessible by public transport , parking around here is expensive though
Great place right in the middle of the city to recharge your electronic devices, and yourselves. Plenty of seating spaces, washrooms, free WIFI . Also, lockers ! $2 for 4hrs. The perfect meeting place.

Absolutely love the Hansen Hall - relatively quiet , natural lightings , drinks allowed, free and reliable WiFi , and plentiful of outlets to charge your laptop. Great for studying / working!
Set aside 1-2 hrs to admire d architecture n free exhibitions . Many seats 2 read n enjoy d library . Go 2 levels 5&6 for overview of d beautiful Latrobe reading room . Must visit destination.

I'm always surprised at how awesome this place is. I use to play Chess with strangers upstairs. Definitely worth having a look.

Take a free tour of the dome every day at 2pm. Guided are incredibly knowledgeable and go into detail about some of the artifacts in the exhibitions
An unlucky student being stopped by the bold Asian guard & forced to keep his bag in locker ($2) Unless u carry an ultra-portable, there is no way a typical laptop bag will fit in tat tint cage!!
On days with good weather they bust out the giant chess pieces so you can play a game just outside the front entrance
Unlike most libraries , The State Library of Victoria is NOT a lending library . You can enjoy library materials inside the library , but you cannot take them home with you.

Damn Asian guard who pick on every bag & will forced u to keep it in locker !!! So be smart by hand carry your laptop & tablet.. make your bag look smaller :) If not detour & sneak in later.

Don't go on the day they do the school tours or you will have groups of school kids filing passed you every five minutes
