Porta Maggiore
Porta Maggiore è una delle porte nelle Mura aureliane di Roma. Si trova nel punto in cui convergevano otto degli undici acquedotti della Roma Antica. Fu costruita sotto l’imperatore Claudio nel 52 per consentire all'acquedotto Claudio di scavalcare le vie Praenestina e Labicana (oggi via Casilina).

Soffermatevi sempre quando siete qui, specie al tramonto , ad osservare la bellezza di questa porta . Una delle più periferiche, che malgrado il caos in cui si trova oggi è ancora ricca di pace.

La Basilica di Porta Maggiore è un santuario sotterraneo, non cristiano, che si ritiene fosse utilizzato dai neopitagorici per lo svolgimento di riti misterici.
