What else can be said, it's the colloseum! Amazing. However, very crowded . Buy tickets in advance and go early in the morning. Download the free Rick Steve's audio tour and listen as you walk through.

The private tour costs 9€ and is totally worth it! Our guide was this very nice and professional archaeologist. You get to ask questions and access places that are forbidden to other visitors. Lovely!

Bardia Navvabian

Historical, glorious and imperial! Definitely worth a visit if you're in Rome.Buy the ticket online to skip the long line of ticket and no need to pay a lot extra to tour leaders, there are audio/video

Gets very hot here, bring water, hats, some shade. Vendors outside hounding you for these items

Violeta OR

It’s amazing and beautiful. You can buy the tickets in advance with some agencies the which it helps a lot with the long lines , ask if they have entrance for the arena it’s totally worth it.

Patrick Puricelli

No introduction needed, just make sure you buy your tickets online beforehand to avoid the queue. Really reccommend to choose the visit that allows you to go to the 3rd level and the underground floor

Cassius P

A must do in Rome! Make sure you book the tickets with the fast-track option. Download Rick Steves free audio guide beforehand or get a tour which takes you to places where normal tickets don’t.

Shamsa Abdulrahman

Get Roma pass to avoid the crowd. Place needs around an hour to check. Go to the second floor. Views r awesome. You will need to be dressed comfortably. Better visit in the afternoon to avoid the heat

Manu Smith

Awesome, just awesome, must see also from inside. Take a guided tour it's worth it. Many people offer the tours outside for approximately 30 euros per person.

If you’re in Rome, you need to see the colosseum. Although book ahead of time so you can avoid long lines . I suggest Get your guide. Very good value , you see more then the colosseum. It’s a all in 1

Majed Alashari

It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Roma. Book you ticket in advance and they do have a free tickets on the first Sunday from each month.

Dermawan The

The sheer size of the site is astonishing. A walking tour can give more details on the history and usage of the building, though I advice you to read the wikipedia article beforehand.

Feras

A must visit when in Rome. The tour wasn’t really worth it but its really a fascinating place and a must see.

Dave Sawyer

We took a tour via CityWonders (through Viator), and it was one of the best decisions we made during our week in Rome. We skipped the lines & gained access to areas below & above that most don't see.

Madison

Absolutely a must see! The sheer size of it is amazing. Book online to skip the queue & then skip that queue by heading to Palatine Hill & the forum first, the ticket queue there is a lot shorter!

No4emi GV

Great site to learn about the history of Rome. The audio guide is totally worth it and also you can buy a ticket to see the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum .

Asmaa Mohammed

Go to take your tickets as normal way Don’t listen to tour guide out side they take 35 € !! And when you go there it’s only by 12 € and the audio by 5,5 € ( has all languages including Arabic ).

Maki Z

You have to do a guided tour . There is just so much to this place. We did the 3hr Dark Rome tour with the Palatine hill and it was great. Could definitely have spent lots more time though!

Gato Monge

Monica Vargas

My life-long dream of seing the arena, finally accomplished! Took the audio tour because I had no time or $ to buy a group tour but it was good enough. Will be back when it is not under restoration!

Enzo Martinelli

Truly amazing this entertainment venue is still standing and partially functioning after twothousand years

Manar

Obviously a must visit when in Rome , The Colosseum is one of the seven wonder of the world don’t bother going inside it’s more beautiful from the outside

Guillermo Lema

If you want to have a unique view from the underground and the third level, you can acquire the guided tour for an additional fee. You will learn a lot and will enjoy it. Worth it.

Kapt’n Koko

Get an audio guide, or read up on your Roman history. You could easily spend hours here. DO NOT fall for the sales pitches of “volunteers” outside. Get your ticket online and come back if you need to.

Jan Freeman

Absolute must see. Add it to your bucket list. If you go in the individual/single ticket line you'll wait over an hour. If you go in with a tour group you get right in. No wait.

Weronika Hollevik

Everytime Im in Rome I have to go to the colosseum. It's big and beautiful and lot of history. After you have been here you should go over to the forum and get the full roman experience. Book tickets.

Passion4Travel ♀Rema

Kit&kafoodle

Of course you have to visit this legendary structure . Don't be too disappointed in it's ruins, it's still a wonderous feat. Also, if you want the third level/underground tour , BOOK MONTHS IN ADVANCE!!

funky flavor

Very beautiful structure . It is a must see in rome. Keep in mind not to fill water bottles with alcohol . They make you dump your water before entering the structure .

Michelle Harris

A must see if you go to Rome, get a guide they might seem expensive but well worth it, and you do skip the line

Meltem K

Photos show how beautiful it is but seeing it with your own eyes is another story! We entered via Imperial Forum and were the only ones, no waiting, no excessive security queue, excellent! :)

Nikki Schei

It's an amazing place, with it's history and background. Our guide was brilliant in her passion telling the story. But, way too many people with no respect to one of the wonders of the world....

Naz Costante

*very important tip* be sure to buy your ticket online in advance and print it! but even then you might wait a long line . Colosseum is just amazing its a must,i recommend you visit foro before ????

David Chung

Book your entrance ticket online for 2 Euros extra to skip the long queue. Remember to book in advance as well for underground tour if you're interested. Keep watch of your possessions around the area

Chris R (thechristophe)

Audio guide is a bit basic. Great to see and imagine the history. Go early and beat the crowds and heat. Roma pass sometimes has a queue but it speeds up after the metal detectors.

Anastasiia Nasyko

This is one of the places "must to see"! You can buy a combined ticket which is 12€ (2017) or reduced price 7.50€ for students and older people. I like it ????????

Rareş Sey

Great sights of Roman history, amazing place to visit with family and friends. Amazing and breathtaking history right in front of your eyes, a must see place at least once in your life.

Miloš

About 2hrs should be enough unless you want to sit and take in the atmosphere. The newly opened top floors will offer an amazing view although cost extra

wero zel

Loved it with my whole heart! Really worth going inside - it's breathtaking and inspiring. Worth buying tickets online - you won't wait in a queue (really good organization ????)

Jermaine Jefferson

I suggest early morning tours before 10am and bring your selfie stick because your going to take allot of pictures. I used the city tour which bypassed the long lines well worth it.

Christoph Ehlert

About 100 meters after the Arc de Triomphe there is a side entrance to the Forum Romanum. There you can also buy tickets for the Colosseum or reserve your entry time without having to wait so long.

Adrijana Husić

As a must in Rome! And buy tickets online: http://www.coopculture.it/en/colosseo-e-shop.cfm (combined ticket colosseum roman forum and palatine, valid for 2 days); not allowed to take any liquids in!

Razan

Booked a tour with ‘City Wonders’ very professional and organized group. Informative tour . The tour is allowed to go to the colosseum floor (which is open for limited amount of people)

Andi Tesorero

If you're taking the tour bus , make sure to be sitting on the upper deck and get your cameras ready as the bus approaches the Colosseum. Simply breathtaking!

Wittyboi

The other amazing sight to see while in #Rome. You can't miss this one... you queued up to two hours to see the inside by yourself without a guide so better get ready

Ann-Margaret M Javier

I grew up reading / watching things on the Colosseum so this was definitely a dream come true - we did the night tour underground and man it was the best idea ever!!! Loved it!!! Stunning!!!

Ashley

Tickets are only 12€ and you also get access to The Forum and the Ruins AND it's also good for the next day. It's not necessary that you go on a guided tour , but you do get extra info.

Gergely Bognar

Combined tickets for the Forum, Palatinus and for the Colosseum. Reserving tickets on the Internet not worth it. In the morning the reservation row sometimes longer than the onsite ticket row.

Lloyd G

A must see on any tour of Rome. If you can, get a skip the line or a behind the scenes tour , you get a special experience and miss a lot of the other tourists .
