At the end of the Republican Age the old Roman Forum proved to be too cramped to efficiently serve as the city’s administrative and monumental centre, to be the very hub of public life. Place Managed by the Rome's Tourism Dept. in collaboration with //Avanti Concept Agency
Via dei Fori Imperiali 00186 Rome Latium Italy
One of the coolest places to v itisit in Rome. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to take tons of pictures. I suggest a tour guide so you can learn the history as you walk around the Forum.
Looks a lot smaller than it actually is! Wish I had come earlier and taken the audio tour . Wonderful ancient Roman site! Worth spendig more than a few hours if you are into history and architecture !
For a free audio guide: Download the podcast "Italy Audio Tours " by Rick Steves and follow the instructions. Was a really fun way to discover the sight!
It is amazing historical place with absolutely unique architecture from the old Rome. I am very glad to be at this place. Lifehack -- good observation point is outside of Forum near the capitol.
Spacious place, you can spend whole day there exploring the ruins, going up to several sightseeing spots. Must see in Rome
This is a must-see! But wear good shoes , come here early and remember water since there's hardly any shade and you'll be walking in difficult terrain.
Walking the Roman forum is truly mind-blowing, taking you back to antiquity . Afterwards take the exit to Via dei Fori Imperiali behind the Basilica Emilia to see the fora of Augustus and successors.
Perhaps one of my favourite places on Earth. It felt sublime to walk among history and art . And the views are amazing. And the green areas quiet .
Included in the colessum ticket, the area is huge, dont suggest to walk all the place in August..It takes you back to medieval times,if you like to imagine how it would to live in those ages, go for it!
Try to get Roma pass which includes two free pass for the museums and colosseum and Forum counts one???? all public transportation is free with this. The ambiance is great..
A must see, included in ticket of Colosseum . Saturn and Venus temples are quite awesome. Stroll around to visualise the grandeur of Roman Empire.
This is a very large area to explore and could easily be a day. To avoid ticket lines purchase in the back entrance otherwise at the coliseum it may take hours.
Magnificent site. It's part of the package when visiting the Colosseum . It's a pity because now it's mostly rubble. But worth visiting all the while.
I think its the best if you start your visit of ancient roma from the forum, it is of course incredible, be sure to have an audioguide and also go to palatino, then visit the colosseum .
It's not actually necessary to pay for entrance to get the best inspiring view . I recommend to go round the Foro and go up a little bit. Believe me you wont' regret.
Amazing views , grab a guide book before you arrive so you can learn about all the buildings. The Nymphaeum is a hidden gem !
According to legend/history, this is the place where the she-wolf raised Romulus and Remus. Also where Romulus founded Rome on 21 April 753 BC as a kingship. In 509 BC, Romans established a republic.
The best time to get photos that won’t be full of other tourists is at home with photoshop stitching multiple shots together.
One of the many highlights of any visit to Rome. Make sure you go off the beaten track - the Forum itself Id wonderful but explore the Palantine bill as well
This is the site of the very first modern city . The empire gell and so did the city . Download a guide tour so u can make sure you get all the history behind this wonderful place.
Not to discourage the tourism industry for the Forum, but best view by far has to be from the vantage point of Piazza Del Campidoglio - and it's free!
The only good place in Rome. Once you're in, stay as long as you can and enjoy the beautiful ancient sites and architecture without being constantly molested by the f.ing street vendors.
You should buy the tickets first, next to the Colosseum . The tickets are valid for the Forum, Palatinus and for the Colosseum too.
This is a must-see site (with a tour guide) for anybody interested in the actual history of this amazing city .
See it on the move between the Colosseum & the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument . Exactly as you expect in Rome - steeped in history. Information boards are nearby some railings for history lessons!
Incredible site which is often included in the ticket price when taking a tour of the colosseum . This is the site of the Roman Empire, truly incredible
If you come on your own. Don't get a guide. I had downloaded the rick stevens walking tour . It is very good. I learned a great deal just by using that. And it's free!
You can buy a ticket to explore the ancient ruins or see most of it from the road for free.
Very worthwhile. A cross between strolling around a pleasant park and visiting a fascinating history museum . I wish I had downloaded the Rick Steves podcast per at least one tip here!
Also a ticket here will also get you into the colosseum and visa versa. Start here as the line is FAR shorter than at the colosseum for tickets. Then walk past the line at the colosseum : )
If you're planning to visit the Roman Forum & Colosseum , I suggest booking a tour guide. €25 and worth every penny! You'll find them (they'll find you) outside the main entrance to the Colosseum .
Better way to spend time than the coliseum, and you get the best views of it. Shame most people end up here afterwards and cut their time short from the heat
A lot of roman history. You need good shoes cause its a big place. And water in the summer, it gets really warm. But its a big and amazing experience.
Give yourself plenty of time to walk around everywhere and climb the hill
Get David Battaglino as your guide! Google his name and you will find the info you need!! The best EVER and we had several guides while there!! You will laugh, love and learn!!
You can purchase a combined ticket for the Colloseum and Forum Romanum here. It's cheaper and you get to skip the long lines . I also recommend having a guided tour .
The night light show is absolutely a must do! It's a detailed journey taking you back to the past by making the Forum becoming 'live'
Colosseum closes at 6:30, so if you want to do both the colosseum and forum, it's an easy all day excursion. Plan early. Bring food even, there is space to eat at the forum.
Be prepared to walk a lot.weve bought the ticket that goes to Colosseum ,Roma Forum and palatine on the same day and it was definitely too much.although breath taking!
It’s better if you have a guide or an audioguide, the place it’s huge and has a lot of things to see
If you buy the ticket for Roman Forum and Palatine Hill : enter via Palatine Hill first. The queue if way shorter and you can enter Roman Forum from Palatine Hill .
Make sure you get there at least two hours before closing time so that you have enough time to see all. When it is time to close they will kick you out and you won't be able to visit the entire place.
If you are visiting in summer, bring a large umbrella and plenty of water as tree covering is scarce (where available it is usually hogged) and it is plenty hot.
Beware of the street vendors trying to befriend you and giving you gifts for no reason. It is a tourist trap/scam!
This is an easy 2.5 hour walk through. If you get the audio guide, easy 3-4 hours. Massive ruins so be prepared to come here early. Closes at 6pm.
Featured in Ubisoft's video game Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The oldest part of the city of Rome, the Forum was the center of Roman public life for several hundred years from 7th Century BC Read more
Just so much to take in - plan to spend at least two hours wandering about and more if you get a good guide book
So much history...hook up with any of the tour companies that offer VR tours . It’s amazing.
One of my favourite locations in Rome. Don't forget to look up!
