Every music Lover who is visiting New Orleans has to go to the Preservation Hall. It is awesome!!! I went there twice and can do it again and again and again!!!

Gabriel Gramajo

Fantastic venue, my favorite experience while visiting NOLA. Be sure to wait in line at least an hour before the concert . Real, classic, intimate , virtuous, musical experience. A must!

Kevin Skobac

Get there at least an hour before on a Saturday night (earlier if you don't want to stand blindly in the back), they only let 100 people in per show. 45 min each and really fun & Interactive.

Silvia Aki

Maybe the best thing we did in New Orleans. Musicians are really amazing and the concept of Preservation Hall is just incredible. I would go back a thousand times to watch them play again.

Derek Crookes

A definite must visit on any visit to New Orleans. Think of a classic song for the group to play - and if they know it they’ll play it. And some crowd members sing from time to time.

maite a

Amazing! Location, music , atmosphere.. what i can say, no words.. is a must for jazz music . Try to get there early enough that you can get in the line the 10-20 first people

Mike Seilback

If you want to see great jazz in a tiny setting. This is your place. A MUST-STOP for music lovers. Standing room unless you buy seated tix for the wooden benches up front. BYOB from anywhere nearby

Neli Parchik

Even if you're not all that into jazz , you have to hit this spot! The bands are amazing! If you don't book seats several weeks in advance you might get a chance to stand in the back - totally worth it

Michelle Blam

This place is bare-bones, but it is completely part of the experience. The interior looks like it hasn't been touched in 50 years, the musicians are world-class, and the show is awesome. Go!!

Sezen

It's a little crammed but great music . Just don't sit down at the very front cushions on the floor because then the instruments become one big noise on your face when they all play at the same time..

Nicole Cheramie

Visit this venue for a live show you won't want to miss! This no-frills relic has long lines each night to see the city 's most famous brass band keeping traditional jazz alive every night of the week.

This is a must and ordering your tickets online is worth it!

Kristerpher Henderson

Cash Only ! Don’t talk during the show! Try to show up at least 45 minutes to an hour BEFOFE the show you would like to see. No bathrooms and it’s BYOB .

C S

Music and setting fantastic, a must-do in New Orleans. Expect to queue for a long time before each show if you don’t pre-book. Bring in your own drink for the performance .

Jon Miller

If you've never been, you need to go - but only once. $15 for NOLA traditional jazz music. Get in line early!

Paige C

If you want a unique jazz experience , this is the place to get it! Buy your tickets in advance and enjoy the show!

Daniya Tamendarova

What a phenomenal place! Do not miss it. The space is small, so it's really worth it to buy VIP tickets online: no waiting in line , perfect seats, great music . Do this!

Sarah Johnston

Awesome jazz music !! Tiny room, no bathroom or bar but the ambiance makes it worth the minor discomforts. Definitely worth checking out!

Bokyung Park

A must-do thing in New Orleans. But beware that there is no air conditioning , you might feel hot and stuffy in crowded people. I recommend reserving sitting tickets instead of standing.

The Daily Meal

A classic jazz club that leaves pretensions at the door and favors an intimate setting and focused on great music . The house band plays three feet away from where you’re sitting. Read more

Check out the All-Stars. Reserve tix in advance or get in line 45 minutes early for standing room . No drinks or food or photo-taking—so take advantage of the hour and just listen and enjoy.

Gayla Reese Walsh

If you can't purchase a ticket in advance, get there 45 minutes before the show, meet some new people while you're waiting, pay only $15, and sit in the front on the cushion on the floor.

Must catch show at Preservation Hall Established in 1961 to protect traditional New Orleans jazz , Inside, you’ll find yellowed peeling walls and old benches . No photography policy

Tim Letscher

Definitely get in line at least an hour ahead of time if it's a busy time of year. Pillows right up front are the way to go for seating.

Patricia Nguyen

Great merch!!! Solo albums and preservation hall compilations. Great dickies jacket for $75...single cd for 15, doubles for 25.... T shirts are a great souvenir, features iconic drum. Stickers for $2

Aubrey Littleton

Amazing jazz . Showtimes @ 5, 6, 8, 9 & 10pm nightly. Buy tickets at the door. TINY venue w/limited seating, so be sure to line up at least 30 minutes before showtime. Bring drinks (none sold inside).

Derek Flanzraich

They haven’t changed a thing since it opened— that means no AC , no bathroom , and no bar (bring your own). So just great jazz !

Rodrиго Ривера

The place to go to listen to live jazz music in New Orleans. Highly recommended.

Team Coco

"One of the best places in the city to see traditional Jazz . Tip the band to request a song, but keep in mind they don't know any Slayer." - Conan O'Brien

BET

This hall was created as a sanctuary, to protect and honor New Orleans Jazz ! In honor of Black History, see noteworthy examples of African-Americans' accomplishments in Music : http://bet.us/BHM

Great, intimate jazz experience . Make sure to line up 15-30 minutes beforehand to make sure you get in

Marcin S

Great jazz music and amazing atmosphere. Other place with live jazz music is in The Maison on Frenchman St

Meg

The best $20 and 45 minutes you will ever spend!

Lissa Goldsmith

The best jazz in the city ...locals and tourists agree. Likely standing room only! And it's strictly a music hall so bring a drink or bottle of water...

David Zimmerman

A great testimony to American ingenuity: Jazz creates great things by pushing the rules while staying within them at the same time.

Greg Palmer

Don't miss this New Orleans classic. Pay for "Big Shot" seats in advance if you want great seats (I sat literally *with* the band), but be sure to go either way.

Andrei Antonenko

Great traditional jazz . No pictures allowed, no drinks sold. Tickets are cash only . Must see when in French quarter.

Robert Conger

The music is only slightly overshadowed by this historically beautiful site.

Worth the trip to bourbon st. Lives up to the hype. Wonderful music .

David Felfoldi

Must do NOLA experience. Exceptional dixieland jazz . $15 at the door, or $30-$40 for reserved 1st/2nd row seating.

HISTORY

The origins of performances here go back to the start of the 1960s. There was no dance floor & no food or drinks served - the focus was just on the music . The only products sold were jazz recordings.

Michelin Travel & Lifestyle

Here on a Friday night? Enjoy live, traditional New Orleans jazz . A ticket buys entry to one of three 45-minute sets a night. -Travel Editor

Ricardo Hernandez

Big Shot tickets are not worth the money, they still put (a lot) people in front of you, which is uncomfortable. But music 's what matters and here is great.

Arturo Imaz

Great Jazz music . The early shows are less crowded so the line is shorter

Jake Ohman

@History says it's origins go aaaaallll the way back to the 1960s. I'm quite sure it's way older than that. Nice fact checking there guys, kudos.
