I’d definitely watch my back at Marion Square. Far too many unsavory characters wandering around both day and night, but even much more so at night. Not a very safe area and I’m a native.
You couldn’t pay me to go to Marion Square. It is definitely no longer a safe area . It’s always been a bit questionable at night with homeless panhandlers but now even during the day it’s not safe. ????
I certainly don’t feel safe at all at Marion Square. Between all of the protests, panhandlers begging for money, homeless and mentally ill living in the park . Definitely stay away at night!
You're not far from the SC Aquarium which is playing host to the Bacardi Cocktail Classic on June 5th. It's a great event benefitting the SC Special Olympics http://2012bacardiclassic.eventbrite.com/
love the farmers market ! great place to spread a blanket and catch some sun, read a book , walk the dog - anything! well kept & safe!
Definitely NOT a safe place at all. We avoid Marion Square at all costs. Even during the daytime it’s not safe! Be careful in this general area.
Photo Tip: The city of Charleston decorates Marion Square for almost all major holidays, providing you with something different to shoot many times throughout the year.
Home of The “old” Citadel before it was moved and within walking distance of all that is needed. Try to visit during a festival like Spoleto Fest for a whole lotta fun. Great history!
Sketchy . Not a very safe place to visit day or night. Exercise caution and walk in groups if you must walk in this area!
It's really dark in Marion Square at night
This is a must-visit location in Charleston - perfect spot to enjoy a nice sunny afternoon.
You never know what you're going to see here.
Great open venue for events AND free wifi
Wonderful place to hold events or to just sit and relax
It's great to come and throw a frisbee or relax on a blanket.
On the King Street side of Marion Square there are the remnants of a 1780 Horn Work from the Siege of Charleston.
