Pirates were hanged here in the 1700s. Today, this public park at the tip of the peninsula is shaded by stately oak trees and lined with benches and surrounded by stunning Antebellum mansions.
During the Jim Crow Era, African Americans were excluded from the parks in Chas, esp the Battery Park which was said to be a premier location in the city during that time. Watch video for more info. Read more

If you visit here which is a must just remember to make sure during your visit you won't have to run to the bathroom . There is no public restrooms south of broad street.

Best between 8 and 10 AM. Everything after that is a tourist nightmare until dark.
Come at night. The lights are beautiful and it's so peaceful .
Great Place to take your dogs for a walk. Parking is free, which is great for downtown.
