Waterfront Park

A perfect place for beautiful views . Take a seat on one of the benches and watch the ships pass by, take pictures by the infamous Pineapple Fountain , and admire the rows of pretty palm trees !

The City of Charleston built this 12-acre park along the harbor , replacing a blighted dock area, at a cost of $13.5M, using tax increment financing bonds, federal & county grants & private donations.

Got a couple hrs to kill? Grab a coffee and stroll down the park until you reach the Battery . Then walk through the streets and check out all the beautiful old homes.

Great views of the harbor and Fort Sumter. Your kids (or you) can play in the fountains , so bring a suit or a change of clothes . Keep an eye out for Rainbow Row one block inland.

Yes it has the pineapple fountain , but what it also has is a view of the harbor . Smell the salt air, enjoy the soft breeze, let the kids have fun in the water or grass. Perfect for the family.

Super pretty during sunset . Walked this with my g/f and ended up finding some nice wooden swings on the pier to relax on while listening to someone play saxophone.

Nice walking park ! Kids enjoyed the fountains (be careful they don't fall in). Nice evening views !

Ladies watch your purses and walk in groups. Especially after dark. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security because it’s a pretty area. It’s also one ripe for crime at all times! Be careful!

Great place to relax and enjoy a break from the city . Walk on the pier , swing on the swings , play in the fountains !

Beautiful views ; covered seating area with swinging benches . If busy, limit yourself to 20mins on swings sign says!

So pretty. It's a welcome to Charleston sort of thing. Newbies have to go by here and the battery . Great place for pictures.

Photo Tip: If you come out at night, you can shoot photos of the Pineapple Fountain , Water Street Fountain , the USS Yorktown, and the Ravenel Bridge .

Great spot to see Dolphins, go for a walk or wander around back roads .

Regard my tip from the Battery for this area, as well . Tourist note: runners have as much right here as you do, so please yield to them.

Be sure to look for inbound or outbound cargo ships...they pass right by the park .

Stand in the middle of the square on this pedestal and your voice echoes in your ears. Strangest thing!

Bring your kids and let them play in the two iconic fountains here while you relax on a shady bench . Bring sunscreen !

Make sure you hit up the swings on the dock. They are awesome in the early evenings.
