Order standing at the counter (a bica if you like espresso and a galão if a latte is more your thing). Also, we recommend the custard tarts and codfish croquettes (pastéis de bacalhau).
Just sit, ask for a coffe and enjoy the city spirit ,very crowded , outside on the street there is always music or some people that play and give some shows .Take some pictures ;)
Nice place to sit and to order a coffee . Since it is mentioned in every guide it is always crowded . Don't forget to take some pictures inside the cafe and one with statue of poet Fernando Pessoa.
As others suggested - order standing at the bar . A bica (=espresso ) or a pingado (bica with little milk ) and a pastel de nata will only set you back 1,70 €. Beautiful place.
One of the oldest cafes in Lisbon . Great option for brunch . Sit outside to people watch . Fresh pastel de natas too.
Get a double espresso , a couple of pasteis de nata , and a couple of hours for people-watching.
If you are going to just have a coffee or light snack in the cafe portion, realize that standing at the counter is cheaper than sitting, which is cheaper than sitting outside!
Extravagant cafe in a Bohemian district, opened in 1905 with an Art Deco interior & pavement tables.
Get a Galao or espresso and people watch from outside on the patio ! Great little historic spot to sit and relax with tasty coffee .
Espresso and latte are good! Nice place to sit inside if there aren't too many people
Good for a little break after a walk at chiado... We pay 10€ for 1 cafe americano , 1 espresso macchiato , 1 sparkled water and a pasteis . ???? its ok
Careful which seat you choose. Along the sidewalk you’ll be harassed by beggars. Sit next to this statue and you’ll have a constant stream of tourists taking pictures.
Was a disappointment after being highly recommended. The staff are rude and were shouting at me for taking a few photos. The coffee was less than average. The cream pie was very good though.
a bit crowded . and they were so busy that you hadto wait to ask for the menu, ordering, the bill .
Every tourist comes to this cafe to take a picture with Fernando Pessoa's statue (the national poet). You do you.
Take an espresso at the espresso bar , it's only €0.70 and is a lovely historic place to enjoy it.
It’s really beautiful inside and the staff was really nice
Loved the custard tart . Good for people watching .
Sip espresso with the locals at the counter. Fan atmosphere and don't miss the newspaper kiosk in the entrance
Best coffee , order and drink at the bar doe best prices: Espresso €0,70!
The place where famous poet Fernando Pessoa frequently had his coffee . The Victorian style interior is just awesome.
Excellent coffee ! Try the pasteis de nata . They are better than in many other places in Lisbon.
Most famous cafe in lisbon , good service , nice terrace and obviously great location. Thumbs up!
The fave of poets and thinkers. Great quick spot for coffee and egg tart .
"Art deco cafe with outside tables and the statue of Fernando Pessoa , who used to hang out here "
Fernando Pessoa used to come here. The coffee and the chocolate are really great, but the waiter was arrogant. Thus, I confirmed the fame of this place, both for the coffee and service.
A wonderful coffee house with a center view ..
The coffee is excellent and the natas are delicious
Excellent tradicional and amazing food.
Old Portuguese cafe . Stop in for 1 drink and a pastry to take in the history.
No miss coffee stop in Chiado. Normal food and a bit overpriced but it is mandatory to have a "bica" (small coffee ) outside next to the statue of Fernando Pessoa :)
It's cosy, coffee is better than in other places, if you sit inside or by the counter it's cheaper.
Very touristic , some bored staff , outside tables , just nice entrance
Quick pastries , very delicious and a very fun atmosphere
Bolces regionales are soooo good. And coffee as well . Worth waiting few minutes, service is so so but ok.
The best lemon cake ever! Capuccino is more like a hot chocolate , never have seen coffee .
You can take a souvenir photo with the bronze statue of Fernando Pessoa !
The Best place to drink a nice coffee in Lisbon ...
Tarts are Not so good... try to eat "pastel da nata " from Manteigeria which very close to here, in 100 meter...
Allegedly the oldest Cafe in town . A bit too crowded . The service is polite but overloaded
Delicious pastries ????♥️
well , the place has a unique interior design . the menu is not particularly extraordinary. pay a visit.
Very good arroz con pato, not very good beer selection
do not miss this great egg custard place when in Baixa/Chiado area.
A classic place to visit and enjoy the crowd
Having a coffee with Pessoa!
The decor inside is beautiful.
One if the most famous coffee places in Lisbon.
Very good coffee place . Too many people though
The oldest cafe in Lisbon (apparently)
Excellent beer and meals. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of German cuisine. - David Kovacs Moniz
Grab a pastel de nata and a coffee for a quick and tasty breakfast. Don’t be afraid to use the standing tables near the pastry counter if it’s crowded. - Osmaan A.
Nice, cosy chiq restaurant with a great view of down town Lisbon. Loved it! - Lisanne Meerkerk
Nice view over Lisbon. A bit expensive at 5 euros for one trip though. But still something that has to be done! - Frederik
