Need not to say much. Unagi is amazing and they serve the dish very quick. Must try the large portion .. I ordered a medium one.. and also bring umbrella if you plan to go in the afternoon..
Shirayaki Unagi made it to 2016 top 3 dishes for Tan Hsueh Yun, food writer. Grilled without sauce, the "springy texture of the unagi & its freshness all come to the fore". Source: Sunday Times
Reservation is only for group and quite limited. Those who come 30min before opening would be the first walk-in guest.
3 sauce typess. "Unagi " is lightly sweet; "Sweet" is much sweeter; "Spicy " does not pack any heat by local standards unless u sprinkle slighly numbing Jap pepper (top left) or chilli powder (top mid)
Fresh unagi that’s grilled really nicely without turning out dry! Loved the rice-unagi-dashi broth method of eating, as well as the fresh wasabi that you have to grate by yourself ????
Unagi is the main star here. Queue can be long but will be faster if there's only 2 of you. Try the 4 methods of eating to really bring out the unagi flavour
Worthy of its recent bib gourmand mention, the freshly grilled unagi here is full of lovely charred flavour. Recommend the kabayaki whole eel ($50) for maximum satisfaction. Come early to avoid queue.
Instead of frozen source, they import live eels from Mikawa Isshiki, Japan 3x a week, and grill them right before your eyes. Source: sethlui.com
Grilled to perfection with crispy edges and juicy texture, indeed one of the best Unagi that I’ve tried. All sauces are worth trying except Green Pepper . -Penang Kia Food Critique-
Get at least a medium order. The hitsumabushi is pricey , but you're getting something like 2 meals in one, with the chazuke portion. Come hungry.
Quirky little place - hidden away at the back of the main street in the under path. The unagi is not bad but still not comparable with the ones you get in Fukuoka which is a very high standard though.
Hitsumabushi for the win!!! Perfectly charred unagi , fresh wasabi and just the right amount of rice . No reservations allowed, just walk in.
Came here 12-ish on a weekday, no queue. Unagi and pork belly rice worth the money you pay. Very good stuff. Make sure all members in your party are present before entry!
Counter dining for individuals. There are 7 seats for lone diners (& couples). It faces the kitchen action. Diners cycle through pretty fast????????
Best unagi I've ever had. Small is sufficient but medium also can. Takeaway is convenient (and remains fresh and tasty), you won't have to queue.
Crispy grilled eel hitsumabushi tasted good but the eel is nothing like the meaty fillets you find in Japan... the larger set just means more fillets not thicker fillets... but sansho pepper !!
Big long queues. Sometimes they run out of Unagi before 2pm at lunch . It is very worth the wait. They also do takeaway if you don't want to wait in the queue.
One of the best unagi I've had. Comparable to the ones in Japan. Worth the queue and wait
Sit at the counter and watch the staff prepare the live eels . Then one can fully appreciate the work that goes in the the meal before them.
First and best specialist grilled Unagi restaurant . $50 for a whole liveUnagi is about the right price.
is famous for its succulent grilled eels , prepared in true Japanese fashion over charcoal pits
The queues can be long. Bring an umbrella to shade from the heat when waiting for lunch
The large set - have it 2 ways on its own and with soup yummy
Unagi set is great! Forget about the tamago wrapped unagi . Service is fast and line moves fast????
If you want to skip the queue, do take away and walk straight to the entrance.
I think it’s better than some of the unagi restaurants I had in Japan. Totally deserving of the bib.
The queue is too long!!! Recommend to avoid queueing!!!! Queued 3 hours from 530-830! If you just want to try just take away . Huge mistake to try queueing. Regret!
A little pricey but really nice unagi don. Worth coming and worth the queue.
Get in line by 11am-ish for lunch , otherwise, the queue picks up quite fast. However, it’s definitely worth the wait.
it's so yummy! and u get to grate ur own wasabi :)
Long Q... very fresh unagi .????
Very good unagi , made with lots of care! Recommend!
Set with extra soup soup taste like normal set soup . So don't bother, just Order the one with egg .
Love the charred edges.
Come in early with party of 2. Else expect a longer wait. We waited less than 5min on a tues evening.
Was there at 6pm and only got to eat after 2 hours. Unagi was very good, do not order the cocktails they are a waste of money.
The unagi is one of the best in Singapore!
Unagi goodness! ???????????? #oishii
Hitsumabushi
Great Unagi experience. Really decent
Unagi don is definitely to die for, but the Wagyu don is dry and not appetising :(
Eels ! And more eels
Very good!! Must try
Great smokey eel disges
Unagi rice !!!
Unagi is fabulous!
Queue takes at least 1hr, if lucky 30min
A tad too sweet, unagi is not as succulent and juicy as expected. Overall, I have had much better elsewhere.
Unagi and unagi .
Awesome unagi
Really really good Tendon. Fresh ingredients and well-cooked rice. - Z
Very good tempura, great value at $13.90 for the special, which comes with prawn, chicken, and vegetable tempura; includes steamed egg and soup by the side. - Ronald Ip
Excellently cooked Unagi with many ways to eat it. The sauce is sweet and goes very well with their Unagi grilled to perfection. - Aaron Teo
Loving the Thai Iced Tea ice cream I had. Cool environment to chill in too! - Christopher Thian
Really good food. Grain bowls and fried chicken are great. Good service. Get here before the hipster kids take it over - Anh Han
The peanut paste and sesame paste was really good. Also try the chendol snow ice! - Naveeshini Nair
