Hunting for bread we found MarieBette and it's restaurant- great salads ,soups ,sandwiches , pasta (best chicken salad and salad nicoise ever).Try them. Plus friendly baristas and great wait staff .
The 5-grain batard is my favorite for slicing/toasting in the mornings. Also, an excellent treat you won't find anywhere else: Canele de Bordeaux . Expect a wait to eat in the cafe .
Best breakfast sandwich I've had in a while sausage and egg croissant . Great place to come after a long night shift - stuffed French toast is a personal favorite. Weirdly, they don't make omelettes ...

Behind the scenes tour is excellent but if you can't do the stairs the basic house tour is very good. Our day including behind the scene tour lasted for 6 hours. Take your time and relish in the histo - M. Carmen Martinez
