The laksa from #01-33 is delicious. The taste of the gravy is well balanced. Not too spicy , not too lemak. It's the old school type of laksa . The tau pok is yummy! Good value at S$3.00.

Kopi: Of all d kopi stalls in d mkt, locals point out 2 fave brewers: Hin Lai #01-07 & Totally Coffee #01-73. After sampling most stalls, I totally agree! Fragrant & more importantly, strong stuff!
Out of towners: here's that "local experience" you been craving. There's ~100 stalls and not a foreigner in sight. I followed the Tips to the Laksa (#33, pictured) and prawn noodles (#42). Both great.

A cozy suburban hawker center that gets pretty crowded and during weekday lunch hour. Had a very satisfying, spicy and cheap bowl of laksa here.
Char kway teow . Yummy plate from Hwa Heng #01-30! Savoury, not overly wet or sweet. Burnt bits here & there. Can’t taste any fried pork lard cubes though. $3 for this serving
Chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes ). From Kovan Chwee Kueh #01-64). A light snack in the morning. Bite-size convenient for sharing too
Economic bee hoon #01-06 was evenly fried. Available in dark or light soy sauce style. Fried chicken wing was the hero – tasty. This plate $2.50

Hainanese curry rice . While the stewed cabbage from Bendemeer Curry Rice #01-04 melts in the mouth, their pork chop was tougher to bite into
If you like your Lor Mee with lots of fried stuff then try it at Heng Kee Lor Mee at 01-87. The traditional Lor Mee has fish meat (not fried) and it balances the dish well .

Surprised that vegetarian stall Jian Kang #01-82 does not offer ur typical bee hoon fare. Instead they hv 'specials' like duck rice (very tasty), Lor Mee , Mee Siam , etc
Fried carrot cake : 2 popular stalls: 1) Yong Xiang #01-35 & 2) Hai Sheng #01-85. 1 dish out old-skool style, where it's fried & cut in2 messy cubes. 2 pre-chunks, fries it flat w egg & is less salty
Extremly good place for local food taste ! Not turistic at all! On the photo you'll find delicious coconut pankakes !
Sims Place Prawn Noodle rocks! Best prawn mee in Singapore! Order the soup version! Super thick and flavourful! :) If takeaway , the boss will pack the noodles separately!
Laksa : Lotsa stalls selling laksa but d specialist is Min Ji Laksa #01-31; it's all they sell. Katong laksa (more coconut milk ) they r not, but their base packs a spicy punch! Generous ingredients

Rongxing fishball noodles has one of the longest q here. Got to get there before 12 or it will close by then! Sauce is just nice, fishballs are bouncy and fresh with springy noodles ! Yums!

Sze chuan fish soup , fresh fish and savory soup , beancurd , sze chuan vegetables and a generous serving of green leafy vegetables adds variety to the bite, wholesome and healthy dish .
Nasi Lemak . #01-47 see queues in the mornings. While the rice is sweet-smelling, the chilli paste is not. Like the rest of (fried) items, it's just generic & convenient
Chee cheong fun (rice rolls ): Nan Rong has been selling here 4 as long as I can remember. Order with their yam cake , splash lotsa ti chiao (sweet bean sauce) & chilli , n u r all set 4 bfast

Nasi lemak set 2 (+ extra chicken wing , $5) from Changi Village Cooked Food #01-45. Rice lacks fragrance. Sambal while sweet, was watery & lacks zing. Fried chicken tasty but batter was untidy

The worst & most awful soya milk I had drank it's soO dilute with a strong weird plastic smell in it that taste toxic to me! There is another stall that tastes much better than this!
