The laksa from #01-33 is delicious. The taste of the gravy is well balanced. Not too spicy , not too lemak. It's the old school type of laksa . The tau pok is yummy! Good value at S$3.00.

Cheen The Curious

Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles ). Newly-awarded Shanyuan Teochew Kway Teow Mian 汕源潮州粿條麵 has a stall here #01-15. BCM is as tasty! Fresh liver . Uses ‘la pok’ (fried pork lard cubes). This bowl $4

Economic meal. True to its signage, Economic Mixed Vegetables Rice #01-70 is popular & affordable . This tray $3.50! Operated by an elderly couple, expect toned down flavours from home style dishes

Cheen The Curious

Ice Kacang. Old-school style from Queenstown Dessert , Sugarcane Juices #01-16. All the standard ingredients including “atap chee “. Syrup not excessively sweet or colourful. $1.50 for a bowl

Fishball noodles : 2 popular stalls: #01-50 njoys d longer q, & new contender 01-72 (reportedly fr Margaret Drv) whose chilli is shiok ! D other stalls not worth your palate's time

Cheen The Curious

Kopi: Of all d kopi stalls in d mkt, locals point out 2 fave brewers: Hin Lai #01-07 & Totally Coffee #01-73. After sampling most stalls, I totally agree! Fragrant & more importantly, strong stuff!

Juston Payne

Out of towners: here's that "local experience" you been craving. There's ~100 stalls and not a foreigner in sight. I followed the Tips to the Laksa (#33, pictured) and prawn noodles (#42). Both great.

Cheen The Curious

Minced pork noodles . Affordable $3 bowl from 潮興鱼圆肉脞面 #01-15. Clean flavours. Fishball noodles starts from $2 ???????? Long queues during lunchtime

Kars Alfrink

A cozy suburban hawker center that gets pretty crowded and during weekday lunch hour. Had a very satisfying, spicy and cheap bowl of laksa here.

Cheen The Curious

Char kway teow . Yummy plate from Hwa Heng #01-30! Savoury, not overly wet or sweet. Burnt bits here & there. Can’t taste any fried pork lard cubes though. $3 for this serving

Cheen The Curious

Chwee kueh (steamed rice cakes ). From Kovan Chwee Kueh #01-64). A light snack in the morning. Bite-size convenient for sharing too

Cheen The Curious

Economic bee hoon #01-06 was evenly fried. Available in dark or light soy sauce style. Fried chicken wing was the hero – tasty. This plate $2.50

Ivy Lbz

#01-65 YONG SIANG CHICKEN RICE is tempting the chilli is hot and tasty and the chicken is soft like the rice . Fav!

Cheen The Curious

Hainanese curry rice . While the stewed cabbage from Bendemeer Curry Rice #01-04 melts in the mouth, their pork chop was tougher to bite into

Ah Leong San

If you like your Lor Mee with lots of fried stuff then try it at Heng Kee Lor Mee at 01-87. The traditional Lor Mee has fish meat (not fried) and it balances the dish well .

Cheen The Curious

Market , road & surrounding area named after the residence (Bendemeer House) of Seah Liang Seah (1850-1924), a well-known pepper and gambier trader. Nobody knows why “Bendemeer”. Source: seaheuchin.com

Cheen The Curious

Fishball Noodle #01-50. The neighbourhood-favoured stall among the 3-4 offerings in the food centre. Fishballs are bouncy & chewy, chilli sauce packs a punch!

Cheen The Curious

Surprised that vegetarian stall Jian Kang #01-82 does not offer ur typical bee hoon fare. Instead they hv 'specials' like duck rice (very tasty), Lor Mee , Mee Siam , etc

Cheen The Curious

Fried carrot cake : 2 popular stalls: 1) Yong Xiang #01-35 & 2) Hai Sheng #01-85. 1 dish out old-skool style, where it's fried & cut in2 messy cubes. 2 pre-chunks, fries it flat w egg & is less salty

Marta Mska

Extremly good place for local food taste ! Not turistic at all! On the photo you'll find delicious coconut pankakes !

Jasmine Tay

Sims Place Prawn Noodle rocks! Best prawn mee in Singapore! Order the soup version! Super thick and flavourful! :) If takeaway , the boss will pack the noodles separately!

Cheen The Curious

Laksa : Lotsa stalls selling laksa but d specialist is Min Ji Laksa #01-31; it's all they sell. Katong laksa (more coconut milk ) they r not, but their base packs a spicy punch! Generous ingredients

Shan. XC

Bak chok mee at AMIGO is da bomb!!! They are generous with crispy wanton and ingredients... run by friendly couple. My wkend delight! Stall located at a corner adjacent to the hainanese curry rice

Cheen The Curious

Putu mayam: Soon Huat Cooked Food (#01-71) is a nondescript stall sellg pineapple tarts & curry puffs . But main attraction is Putu Mayam, an Indian snack made of rice flour , served w palm sugar

Joanne Wong

Rongxing fishball noodles has one of the longest q here. Got to get there before 12 or it will close by then! Sauce is just nice, fishballs are bouncy and fresh with springy noodles ! Yums!

Cheen The Curious

Prawn noodles : What makes Sims Place #01-42 a memorable experience is d REALLY thick soup . Basic $3 order is served w pork ribs . 2 savour more, order a soup serving (2 get more of that flavour!)

Sze chuan fish soup , fresh fish and savory soup , beancurd , sze chuan vegetables and a generous serving of green leafy vegetables adds variety to the bite, wholesome and healthy dish .

Cheen The Curious

Nasi Lemak . #01-47 see queues in the mornings. While the rice is sweet-smelling, the chilli paste is not. Like the rest of (fried) items, it's just generic & convenient

Cheen The Curious

Chee cheong fun (rice rolls ): Nan Rong has been selling here 4 as long as I can remember. Order with their yam cake , splash lotsa ti chiao (sweet bean sauce) & chilli , n u r all set 4 bfast

Ht Wong

There r many good food in this hawker centre. Hong Hong laksa n prawn noodle 01-69 is recommended

Cheen The Curious

Nasi lemak set 2 (+ extra chicken wing , $5) from Changi Village Cooked Food #01-45. Rice lacks fragrance. Sambal while sweet, was watery & lacks zing. Fried chicken tasty but batter was untidy

P Y Wong

One of the best cleaner I've seen in Singapore. Cleans efficiently and polite. ????????????

Cheen The Curious

Lor mee : 2 stalls A (#01-87) & B (#01-39). A's sauce is thick, egg-y. Lots of crispy bits if u luv an oral party. B has freshly shredded fish meat & well-cooked braised pork slices

The worst & most awful soya milk I had drank it's soO dilute with a strong weird plastic smell in it that taste toxic to me! There is another stall that tastes much better than this!
