A must visit when in DC or Virginia. Beautiful gardens and daily demonstrations of what life was like in the 1700s. Lots to see between the house, museum , and the tomb. Different every season.
A must see on any visit to the DMV. The house tour is as informative as it is beautiful. The views are breathtaking. Be sure to find a cozy spot to sit and enjoy the magnificent Potomac views .
Travel just west of the estate and see Mount Vernon as visitors would when they first arrived. You can easily see how they would be impressed, if not slightly in awe, of his home.
Amazing site to visit. The views are awesome. The tour is great through the house. The guides and staff are so knowledgeable it’s a great piece of American History. Must see.
We were there for the Independence Day fireworks . You have to buy tickets and it can include a mansion tour . Bring your chairs, they have plenty of food and beverages to buy, relax, and enjoy!
A great tour , with beautiful views from the grounds. They have a lot to see and learn while here which makes it worth a trip
The National Landmark should be on your list of must see area attractions — The Museum highlights Mount Vernon history and the Washington family.
Plan on spending the day! We didn't see everything and were there for nearly 8 hours. We did the movie , mansion, dinner tour , lunch , wharf, farm , education center . Missed the museum . A favorite place!
I Love this place so much it's like my home! Check out the Potomac view , the tombs&the educational center . Make sure to go on the forest trail ! Oh yeah, maybe touring the house would be a good idea ;)
I love history & to be able to walk the same stairs and halls of our great and first President was a thrill for me. The gardens are fabulous! Be sure to visit the tomb.
Must see. Must do while in DC! Drive down. It’s very interesting! Be introduced to our first President !
So much inspiring art and history. The Learning Center is where the action is, but museum is far quieter and displays the dramatic original art you come to see.
Wish they would present the real history of this country and not just a glorified fairytale - you can’t sweep the horrors of slavery under the carpet... but they do try to do that here.
George Washington's home...so much history. Make sure to visit his burial site and pay your respects. Make sure to tour the home and museum .
The view of the Potomac river , the tour of the house, all the other buildings.... They were all very nice to see.
Worth a visit to understand how the extremely well to do and erudite founder of our nation lived, at the benefit of 317 slaves and other indentured servants…
Loved every moment of our tour and bonus....President Washington was receiving guests and serving hoecakes.
Home of our 1st President, this place showcases how Washington lived. Be sure to take it all in, especially with this place a bit off the beaten path and away from the heart of DC!
Not only is this educational , it's eventful . In every room, George Washington is reflected in the furniture , lighting, etc. The garden is spectacular in the spring and you may even see his dentures!
Great place to visit if you get the “detailed tour ”. Tour guide was great, but it is $30 extra per person ????
Off the beaten path, so plan a full day for this excursion. Make sure to take a guided tour .
Hold onto your Mount Vernon entrance ticket when you leave and use it at Washington's distillery just a few miles down the road ! Definitely worth the additional stop!
Definitely do the guided tour , and must see the crypt of the president and his wife. @nicolerovig
The back porch of the Mansion has comfy green chairs where you can relax while gazing out at the gorgeous Potomac amid green rolling hills . Super spot for a rest amid all the walking / sightseeing!
Historic mansion depicting President George Washington's life and times. Truly a site to see!

Mount Vernon is home to our first President , George Washington. Kids will love the interactive museum & parents will love the rich history. Enjoy the beautiful gardens & views of the Potomac!
Definitely see the movie as you first come in. We've been here several times, but this was the first time we saw it and it was time well spent. Very, very well done!
Travel back to a time before cars at the home of our first president . Be sure to see the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center where you’ll find snowfall in the theater ! (Trust us on this.)
In the spring visiting the sheep area is a must especially when the lambs are out.
If you are in a time pinch and want to make sure to tour the mansion, buy an annual pass (an extra $10) and you can bypass scheduled tour times and go directly into the mansion.
Beautiful grounds! Make sure you schedule more than a couple hours for this trip, there's a lot more to see than you think! They also did a great job with the education centers and multimedia theatres
The house tour was great. It was awesome to be walking through rooms that George Washington built and lived in.
It's a place you should do once. Unfortunately, the value of the guided tour is practically nil relative to the historic significance of the site. The tour is very rushed; questions not encouraged.
Give yourself more than a few hours. Lots to see. Check out the gift shops . Beautiful views of the Potomac.
Wonderful location. Reserve half day to be able to explore everything this place has to offer.
All of the events are great. Use the bathroom in the visitor center beforehand or after
If you enjoy Mt. Vernon you have to go down the road and check out River Farm , another George Washington farm . It has a meadow veggie gardens and a cute gift shop . Entry is free!
History. A bit whitewashed, but still history.
Take a photo of the tulips before going in. They're gorgeous. Also watch the interesting 20 min film on Washington before heading outdoors to visit the gardens and house.

I can't even begin to explain how crazy it was to look at the bed that Washington passed away in.
Beautiful. It was amazing and a lot to see. Very impressive property.
