Hidden gem of the Museums Mile - next door to Guggenheim museum and so much more fun! Very interactive, lots of things to get involved in: design your own building, wallpaper, lamp... Very cool place.
If you love 1920s American jazz age, go. Beautiful exhibits of Cartier and Tiffany vanity, cigarette cases, along with jewelry and furniture . During prohibition and migration b/w Paris and New York.
LOVE the renovation. More space, more items on display. 3rd fl tools and makers is fab. My fave probably the flat screen interactive displays on the Carnegie home. On 2nd fl by the stairs. Brilliant
Fun, interactive, and save-able exhibits -- take home the memories and the design inspiration with the pen they hand out at the start! The architecture exhibit on floor 3 was fascinating.
Underrated museum with great design. Stop by the cafe and enjoy an espresso outdoors in the spring or fall. Fun fact - it's the old mansion of Andrew Carnegie !
Architecture of the building is gorgeous, exhibits were unusual and interactive, but the museum itself is small. After having it on my to-do list for so long, I wish there had been more to see.
Most interesting, most interactive, and most fun museum I have ever visited. Their new digital pen system is awesome. If you're on the fence about going, just go - you won't regret it!
The best way to spend your Saturday evening if you love exploring & museum visits! From 6pm-9pm its pay as you wish
Just wow! The best interactive experience I’ve ever had in a museum . Not slammed with people like so many other NY museums
One of the best museums in NY. They change exhibits every 6 months. They give student discount , Saturday is pay as you wish from 6pm-9pm aka FREE!
We were looking for a small but interesting museum where we could spent a couple of hours but not a whole day. This was exactly that. Interesting, interactive, fun. I made a sand selfie!
They provide very cool electronic pens to "bookmark" your favorite exhibits . The entrance to the garden is in the back of the cafe in the museum bookstore .
Small museum - can probably complete in 2 hours, but it has interesting history behind it and the interactive pens make it a fun experience!
Really awesome museum ! Love the new pen system - you can view your saved items and designs online after your visit. There's currently a Pixar exhibit . The immersion room is really fun, too.
Underrated museum with great design. Stop by the cafe and enjoy an espresso outdoors in the spring or fall.
don't miss it! really great design exhibits and the electronic pen feature is truly the future. Also don't be afraid to talk to the security guards ! They're not only nice but also very knowledgable
Go up to the top floor first and have your photo taken for a #sandselfie. There can be a bit of a backlog but it'll give you an estimated time to come back.
Bring your kids! The simple scavenger hunt they setup for your kids made the whole experience a lot of fun. Outside that, the pen tech makes the entire experience an immersive one.
Unexpectedly beautiful museum . Even if you aren't that into modern designs , there're other exhibitions/architecture itself to might elicit interest
Great design museum and it has that perfect size where you can see all without getting tired. I love their smart pen, you can save your favorites works and receive all the information later.
One of my favorite museums in the world! They always have interesting, thoughtful exhibits . I always feel inspired whenever I go! ????????
It all depends on the exhibits ... the current 3D printed items is really amazing and eye-opening; some of the others seem out of place, but all were pretty cool
Cocktails in NYC's largest private garden are back for the summer! Visit the Cooper Hewitt on Thursdays and enjoy DJs , seasonal drinks , and light fare , FREE with admission from 6-9 pm.
A well done museum experience that lets you engage with exhibits by designing things or simply collecting digital artifacts
housed in Andrew Carnegie 's mansion on 5th Avenue, the space is as fascinating as the collection it houses.
Often overlooked on "Museum Mile", Cooper Hewitt is set in a former Carnegie Mansion. They have an abundance of design exhibits so check their website before going to find one that interests you.
The cafe is open to the public, and offers yummy paninis and freeee wifi ! Photo: Cotto (ham & provolone )
Closed for renovation, re-opening in 2014. The only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. Compelling perspectives on the impact of design on daily life.
free entry and small manageable size makes it a great stop-in when in the area
The cafe and gardens are a great place to relax away from the crowds. Awesome interactive museum as well !
Underrated museum with great design. Stop by the cafe and enjoy an espresso outdoors in the spring or fall.
Our concierge recommends stopping into this creative museum which always is exhibiting the best in design. If you have a chance, relax in the old solarium on the East side of the building.
So many interactive exhibits ! Really loved getting to try to design things and the gift shop was almost as fun as the museum itself
Entrance is on 91st. The interactive installations are fun. 3rd floor has the best ones. Make sure to get a picture inside the "Controller of the Universe ".
The gardens are gorgeous. Did you know the library is open to the public and has an amazing world's Fair collection? Just make an appointment!
Beautiful modern design collection, pick up a digital pen and make a collection of your favorite items as you browse the galleries .
One of best museums I've been to and while the exhibits are great, their incorporation of technology is unparalleled
Pay what you wish, Saturday evening! Such a fun place in a beautiful location.
Highly recommend this museum ! So many interesting and interactive exhibits . Love the current poster exhibition !
Take a spin in the $700 plastic chairs before you head inside. Could go around for days.
Awesome museum , they have magic pens that allow you to interact with all the exhibits and download at home.
Really nice and modern museum , which explains a lot's about the concept behind designs and shows lot's of interesting examples.
Loved the senses exhibit ! So interesting and creative
So many tools! Make sure you collect everything with the pen! It's like Pokemon, but with art .
They have a great gift shop and free wifi ! Cafe is nice and clean if you want to make it a work day
Lots of great interactive installations. Make sure to play with the Immersion Room.
The interactive elements show real promise and the immersion room was especially fun. Not a destination in itself (small and lacking in areas), but if you have $16 and an hour to burn, stop by.
Highly interactive museum in the former Carnegie mansion, focused on design.

They're currently running an exhibit on posters, which comes highly recommended. The museum shop is equally great.

The new space is great! All the outdoor terraces have great views of the city and the river - Anna R
Impressive collection, beautiful sculpture garden. All that you can hope for in a museum. The 5th floor cafe is pricey, but the food is very good and the view on the balcony is worth the price. - Kaisa Hernberg
