The roast bone marrow & parsley salad is absolutely to die for. You need to try it. Beware though, it is an ample portion & very very filling. Parsley perfectly seasoned. Team with a great wine . ❤
The bone marrow with parsley salad was excellent. A great balance of fat, salt, and acid. A must try.
The most unpretential Michelin starred restaurant I know. Wonderfully, perfect and clean british kitchen. If lamb tongues or spicy kidneys are available - go for it.
Did not think the roast bone marrow & parsley salad could be topped, but the venison and trotter pie for 2 is sublime. If you are coming here don't have lunch , otherwise risk turning into Mr Creosote
Unusual cuts of meat served in delicious ways! Crispy pork skin , pickled mackerel , roast middle white pork the desserts and wine are amazing too! All in such a cool setting with great service.
Simple but perfectly executed food. Start with the bone marrow , go for the specials for your main & save room for dessert that makes you feel drugged.
Roast bone marrow , Rolled pig 's spleen and bacon , grilled venison saddle, braised rabbit with turnips , turbot with leeks ...we'll be back for sure!
lamb tongue is simply the best, very healthy as well .the rabbit specialty for thursday looks nice. for starter crab on toast is great and the m bone is a must. honeycomb ice and braised pair/plum pls
Blood Cake w Fried Egg . Just order it, it's amazing. (Welsh Rarebit 's also nice but not the best one I've ever had). Nice wines , reasonably priced. Order at the counter in the Bread & Wine section ...
Lovely food & really attentive service . Went for my bf's bday & loved it. Potted beef with pickled quince & mackerel with Jerusalem artichokes were standouts. & marmalade ice cream soooo yummy!
The grilled ox heart is fantastic, the hare pie is sublime, and the bone marrow is a classic. And the Welsh rarebit is one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches you've ever had.
A destination and a place of pilgrimage for inventive cooking. Even if you detest offal , this place will change your mind. Blood sausage , bone marrow and the tripe were all exceptional.
A restaurant that sets the standard for how British is food is meant to taste. Incredible game-y meats, dessert selection, and wine + beer list . Probably my favourite restaurant in London.
The food here is so different and yet so unexpectedly delicious. They’re very meat-focused and serve all weird and interesting parts of animals. A really great dining experience.
Pricey but delicious and perfectly executed modern and traditional British food. Portions are decent. Lamb sweetbread , Lamb shank , kid faggots, Deep fried pork cheek , Marrow , Deep fried tripe all good
"They call it "Nose-to-Tail Eating," and you'll be amazed at the number of obscure cuts that can crop up between those too extremes and end up on your plate." -Concierge .com on TripExpert Read more
Still as good as it gets in London, for my money. They will not miss a step. Incredible service, too. Throw caution to the wind when ordering and listen to your server's recommendations.
The bigger of the St John's restaurants . Meat fresh from the market next door. An awesome restaurant that consistently delivers quality meals. I've never been let down by th food here.
Food aside, a good place to come for after work drinks. Small bar stocking a few beers and plenty of wine and keep well fed with the bar snacks that fit in with the style of the restaurant .
Service/cocktails were great. Kitchen was a little slow. Crispy pig skin/dandy salad was deelish (careful, it is possibly-break-a-tooth crispy ). The Hake was a simple (read: plain) pan-roasted steak .
If you want to go for a light meal, order the Brown shrimp and white cabbage (delish!) turbot and salsify with a green salad as side. Favourite restaurant in London? Loved it!!
If you like your game cooked by the absolute experts, this is the place to go. Don’t be surprised when the woodcock — if on the menu — arrives on its own on a plate. It tastes sublime. Read more
If it’s your first time you really should try the bone marrow
Perhaps I'm missing the point of why foodies eat here..because it's hard to overeat? The famous roast marrow is a dud - even Waitrose cuts it in a more majestic, accessible manner. Foodies stay away!
The Bone Marrow Toast is a must have. Perfect for game in autumn, but the desserts leave something to desire.
The roast bone marrow and the duck hearts with radishes are both amazing. The roast grouse is pretty good too.
The bone marrow is all they say it is. The wine , the service, the atmosphere, all top notch. One of my favourite London restaurants .
Marrow was good! Saw a whole pig being served to a group. Staff were very friendly . Desserts were tasty! Enjoyed the meal 👍
Fergus Henderson's uncompromising take on ‘nose to tail eating’ has been much copied but seldom bettered. There's a broad mix of seasonal dishes like ‘rabbit offal & radishes ’ and ‘pigeon & lentils’. Read more
The more adventurous diner should love this old ham and bacon smokehouse - sweetbreads , bone marrow , tongue , cheek and trotters all make an appearance on the menu, as well as whole roast suckling pig !
Had a drink and snack at the bar . The staff were beyond uninterested in helping us but a fine experience overall. Good, meaty, greasy (yet sophisticated) bar food.
The crab on toast and madeleine are always a winner on my book !
Forget any pretensions. The monosyllabic menu changes regularly but always favors meat and offal and flaunts an almost Dickensian tone. Read more
Interesting food perhaps i picked the wrong things The Madeleines were fab as was the marrow
Desserts add more of a whimsical touch, especially a stellar bread pudding drizzled with butterscotch sauce and a fig Bakewell tart . Read more
Pretty much everything is good here. Just go for an example of Proper British Food, cooked well with a progressive twist.
Original nose-to-tail but most impressive are the Madeleine 's. Can also pick some up from bakery downstairs. 🐽
Bone marrow was great! As was their choice of wine . Highly recommended!
The menu of this classic British restaurant changes all the time, but the favorites are always there. Fancy a plate of crispy pig 's tail and watercress ? Then this is the place to go.
Obvious tip - all about the bone marrow here, signature dish. And the pork dishes generally great.
The braised ox cheek was apparently one of the best meals my girlfriend has had. Ever. Talk about order envy!
The food is amazing but lately I have been getting all sort of stuff from the bakery . Superb! Brownies and Madeleines not to be missed. Full Review... Read more
Excellent Michelin starred scran, but you need to book 2-4 weeks in advance to get a table :(
Welsh rarebit , bone marrow was "meh", seemed to be a thing everyone ordered but I struggled to find the wow factor.
Go for Roast Bone Marrow if u have such a chance. It's really good.
High end prices for bits of meat you would normally throw in the bin, sat at tables ridiculously close together.
Was looking forward to trying this place but despite empty tables when I walked in I was ignored by 2 staff behind the bar , 1 serving tables, 2 behind the bakery .. gave up after a couple of minutes!
starters were all amazing (bone marrow and the broccoli ) but my main course was a let down (pigeon).
Get the Welsh Rarebit and the Roasted Bone Marrow with Parsley Salad .
No squirrels :( but dandelions are a thing. Authentic place, very nice staff .
Given the choice, try the ox heart, and then the stilton. A wonderful spot - Guy Corbet
Great ambiance for a quick bite or a glass of wine! The fish finger sandwich is a classic - Niamh Breslin
Extremely friendly staff, fantastic decor and of course, fantastic cocktails. Highly recommend Aviation. - Alexander Fergusson-Cooper
Waterside cafe is an inexpensive and good value place to eat with a choice of hot and cold dishes and desserts. You can get a main meal, dessert and drink for well under 15 pounds. - Helen Forrest
Best beef and Yorkshire puds for Sunday roast - it comes with a massive knife. Ask for some gravy on the side. - Viv
