Sample the sweet bread , a favorite among locals. Different flavors and forms, like loaves, buns , rolls and more. The best french toast is made with slices of the original Punaluu sweet bread !
Tourist tip: guava , lilikoi, mango , and taro malasadas - try them all! Also coco puffs and more... Great stop on the way to Volcano from Kona side.
Best malasadas on the island . We tried the taro and guava flavored ones. Very crowded . I recommend grabbing lunch at the Shaka Restaurant across the street and coming here for dessert .
Great stop on the way to black sand beach . Mango and guava malasadas were great, but the lilikoi iced was my favorite!
Great rest stop. Clean bathrooms , lots of souvenirs, live music . Very good lilikoi malasada .
Malasadas ! Stop here and get a couple and some Hawaiian bread for sandwiches . You will not regret it.
Go for the natural donut (called in Hawaiian malasadas ). It is way better than the flavoured ones (I had the one with lilikoi).
The seafood salad is good. The malasadas and eclairs are delicious. Yummy in the tummy. Very friendly staff
Great malasadas ! Worth stopping by if you’re in the hood
The hit pastrami sandwich and Cheeseburgers are awesome. Donuts and bread fresh baked here.
Nice little bakery shop . Feels quite touristy , but prices are good and food is tasty
Open 9-5. Easy place for breakfast or lunch . Good sandwiches and the chili is really tasty. Nice affordable gift shop .
Liked the plain maladadas the best. Sandos are better than they look - soft, sweet bread .
Nice landscape and tourist facilities. Its bakery is just OK nothing special.
Come early before 10am if you want fresh Malasadas . Else the tour bus people will eat them all up
The stuffed cabbage is delicious. Don't leave without a loaf of Taro Bread .
Good pastries . Don't really like that the bread is made of "flavors" and "coloring".
Usually malasadas are sold out between 2 and 3, so come early.
Check out the botanic gardens with plants labeled: pinapple , coffee , plumeria, papaya , etc.
Nice gardens adjoining.
Great rest stop on the way to the volcano ! Ice coffee and Taro bread will recharge you.
Malasada and coffee make a great afternoon snack !
Portuguese sweet bread in plain, guava , and taro , so good! #bigisle2012
Peek in to the baking area and breathe in the delicious smell of sweet bread !
If you’re heading into Volcanoes National Park , pick up something to eat from here. Food concessions are being remodeled in the park until 2012.
Sweet bread and malasadas ! Mmmm!
Yummy Kona ice cream and Hawaiian breads
Make sure to try some free samples , folks!
Haupia ice cream is to die for. Don't regret it, get it.
Delicious any flavor.
Good local donuts !
Fun stop for kids to look in and see the baking process.
The best donut I have ever eaten!
The smell alone is worth the stop. Try the m alalas
Sweet bread pudding is awesome.
Malasadas tho ????
Closing time is 5:00 pm. The malasadas sell out by late afternoon.
Malasada and coffee ice cream !! Yum
Delicious deli
Donuts and whatnot.
Living in a moochers paradise.
While I respect their accomplishment, I can't recommend their product.
Pretty affordable , but not a great quality
Not a bad stop for a sweet malasada , but nothing special.
Come for baked goods , not actual food.
The Southernmost Bakery in the U.S.A.!
Worst food we've had. Bad fruit salad . Horrible chicken cutlet . The cafeteria food of Hawaii. Complete with cockroach on the floor.
Average quality sandwiches and bakery
Marlin jerky is VERY fishy
Overrated on every level: bland and burnt.
Delicious pies! And the Loco Moco with pulled pork is amazing, too. - ???????????????????? dnǝʇsɔɥ
Had the Laulau, which was pretty good, but strongly flavored. I recommend getting it with the rice amd eating the two together if you're unaccustomed to local taste. Good prices, sub-par cleanliness. - Dan Ryan
Soo pretty! Bring water shoes, because the sand is pretty coarse. There are lots of volcanic rocks to hike around on which is really fun! - Laura
Beautiful views! Green sand beach very close by! Watch your step, steep cliffs plummeting to the ocean! A must see! - Kelsey Larson
In addition to the main beach go to the secret beach with sand that is way more green! Don’t miss it. It’s on the way and easy to miss. - Alex Song
