Despite the fact the entrance is very unwelcoming, this place *is* open to the public. There's a great little museum in the basement with Faraday 's scientific instruments and such
The bar at the Ri is a fab place for a cocktail and a decent bite to eat. In the evenings you can get a lovely platter to share whilst at lunch time they do great British gastro pub style dishes.
The science history in this place is simply awesome. Get a chance to see a lecture here, chances are it will be fantastic. Look out for Bryson Gore, an experimental legend and fountain of knowledge

Great lectures, fantastic old lecture theatre . Get there early for sold out talks though or you might end up sitting on the floor.
10 chemical elements discovered here; 14 Nobel Prizes. A simply stunning history. But also a very welcoming, modern place with cafe , bar , restaurant and museum if you can get past the stuffy facade.

Great lecture theatre impressive history
free. if you love all things related to nature you will love this place. so much to see and do you can easily spend a minimum half day. the exhibits are brilliant, especially the Darwin section. - Lee Hart
