Quiet , comfortable , and the best customer service in the city . This hotel is in the middle of everything but still remains quaint and sophisticated. We will be staying here again.
You can hear 1920's music in its bathroom it was cool and the employer mike was so kind and sweet to let us switch rooms after that it was wonderful being this haunted historian hotel !
I love this hotel !!! The pool is amazing and I do believe this place is haunted!
It is a must to go into the bar and admire the commemorative paintings . It is also the same bar where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the "Rough Riders" in 1898. Photo courtesy Oyster.com
The staff was nice even though my keys got locked in the trunk & they lost a very important package (still MIA). Very close to Alamo (just outside the front doors) & a block away from the River Walk.
Be sure to walk the halls and the bar and view/read the pictures and memorabilia of the hotel’s rich history.
Very cool (not for little children, saw a few crying). if you do come here, and don't mind paying a little extra cash for the King Ranch Suite, do it. I'm convinced the hotels haunted!!!!
The courtyard is nice relaxing place to smoke a cigar from ClubHumidor in the lobby.
Step back in time to an elegant relaxed era. Clean , quiet and very different.
The 1130am brunch $11.95 is an OMFG. Homemade everything- omelet bar , carving station, strawberry shortcake , mousse , pecan pie , smoked sausage , soups , salads . A bargain, I'd have paid $24.95
Lovely Hotel Experience ;)
Historic Menger Hotel where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders for the Spanish American War. Great Lunch Buffet and the Bar is Wonderful & Historic. Drink & learn History. Read more
They play overhead music from the 40's. it has a Stanley Hotel vibe. I keep looking for a kid on a big wheel to zoom past me.
Wonderful modernized antique hotel , highly recommended
Beware of the 2nd floor room 2214 smells like a a dirty bathroom with full with pee smell in the whole room that you cant sleep of it and it can get you sick totally!!
Talk to the cleaning ladies, they have stories and pics of ghosts ! Very interesting!
Lunch buffet , Bread Pudding , Mango Ice cream
The mirror on the 2nd floor old section is famous for ghosts appearing in the mirror reflections of the photo's v
Awesome historically haunted hotel
Take plenty of pictures. You never know what you may find on them.
The toilets sound like airplane toilets and the room was tiny. It was cool to be in a historic hotel but it needs some updating.
If you're visiting the Alamo you may as well stop by this historic Hotel . Loved it.
The hotel is old. But it's historic. It's a nice comfortable stay
You have to scream at the bartender to get the television turned to football .
Several stays in the old section but no sightings. I am disappointed!
Be careful in the showers . When a toilet in an adjacent room flushes, the temperature of the shower fluctuates significantly.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy....
Showers that will knock you into tomorrow
If you do nothing else, goto the lunch buffet !!
Why are full sized beds even an option at this hotel ??? Very uncomfortable stay since the AC wasn't working either.
come walk around inside and get scared!! this hotel is haunted!! careful not to get kicked out though if you are not a guest!
Brunch is fabulous!!
There us a ghost that steals one earring.....beware!
this place is a real piece of work. stay here if you love the smell if bleach/urine (lobby) or mildew (room)
Don't stay here. Worst shower ever and it's not really haunted. I saw the valet guys wreck someone's car into a pole as well .
It was historically charming, service was excellent w/ very reasonable drink prices I wouldn't expect to find in an upscale hotel. - Tennille Rehm
Excellent hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. As well as right on the Riverwalk. - Shonna Peters
You have to Enjoy the Location! It's in the Middle of Everything! Rooms were nice & My floor was quiet (38th) ~ Staff was available & nice! - Shelby
Love staying here when we come to San Antonio- great location, nice staff, comfortable rooms (not sure what they've done with the pillows though, not as comfortable as they used to be) - Mary P
Tours are great, fun, informative, and calming, but no pictures please! ;) - Lilith Eden
