Despite the scaffolding and enormous crane, this is a site you can't miss in Athens. Enjoy the climb up the hill and admire the beauty.

Joanna

Gorgeous! Get there early as the tours start arriving around 9am (it opens at 8am). The side entrance (near the museum ) is much less busy than the main entrance.

Beautiful ancient Greek architecture . Some construction and renovation is still going on. So difficult to take proper photo without anything at the background. Number 1 must-see tourist attraction .

Madison

Worth going at sunset - it feels a lot cooler up there at that time of day in the summer and it's truly wonderful to watch the sun sink down over Athens from this view point.

Ethar El-Katatney

As an Egyptian, these sites tend to be not so impressive. Bit of a hike , but a must see. Gorgeous views .

There’s a lot to see here both on top of and around the acropolis. You’ll need to double back a few times but be sure to see it all. Watch you’re step! Very uneven terrain - wear decent shoes !

Ryan Watson

Marble can get very slick, the hike up is not as bad as it seems, scaffolding has been up forever, check out museum next door, don't try to walk the old mine cart tracks down!

Carl Griffin

Completed in 438BC and dedicated to the goddess Athena . Used primarily as a treasury. Was converted to a Christian church in the 6th century AD.

For wheelchair users: You will struggle a bit to get to the entrance (the ramp is quite steep) but once you get in, there is a platform / elevator so that you can get to the top of the Acropolis.

Camila Rey de Castro

Athena's Temple , this is a beautiful landmark . It is free for students and it has a wonderful view . The structure itself is amazing and you feel like and ancient Greek . Also, very spiritual.

Take water and go to the toilet at the ticket office area - no facilities once you’re through the entrance barriers. Signage explaining Greek myth is poor (instead lots about restoration works)

Ieva Andrukaitytė

N°1 place to visit in Athens. The view from the hill is amazing and the whole historical site is stunning.
