Der Heumarkt ist der zweitgrößte Platz in Köln. Dieser Platz und seine Fortsetzung Alter Markt bildeten bis ins Mittelalter eine Einheit, erst später erfolgte ihre Abtrennung. Der erste Markt fand hier um das Jahr 957 statt. Das hier verkaufte Heu gab dem Platz seinen Namen.

Nice little square with lots of Kölsch places around it. Worth a visit!
Three blocks from the Rhein , with a several kinds of Restos, cafeterias and bars . Very touristic place. Also is the main place of the carnival
If you want a coffee check the cafe on the top level of Maritim hotel . For beer you MUST go to Malzmühle! During carnival a good alternative to Alter Markt.
