Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is a man-made canal that starts in Georgetown and extends 185 miles upriver to Cumberland in Western Maryland. It took 22 years in 1828 for excavators to get to Cumberland.
Small but nice visitor center . The park ranger was nice .
Be sure to take the trail up to the overlook at Great Falls. Kids will love the cool mist coming off the river this time of year.
