Nice to have a music venue that has both plenty of seating and a big dance floor . Other places usually just have one or the other (or neither).
When you need your Lone Star cold, your chicken-fried steak hot, and the ghost of Ernest Tubb on your shoulder, this historic honky tonk is the place to be. Two-step refreshers run 8-9pm Wed-Sat.

Want to learn to country dance while you’re in Austin? Check out this Austin institution, the Broken Spoke. Dance lessons Wednesday through Saturday in a real life Texas dancehall setting.
The O.G. spot to get your Texas Two-Step on. If you're looking for authentic Texas, this is as good as you're going to get in central Austin.
The Broken Spoke is Texas' most definitive dance hall . If you're ever in Austin, stop by for some traditional country music by some "real" country musicians .
It is mostly Texas Two Step with some Western/East Coast Swing. The band is good! Definately disappointed there are no line dances . I must be spoiled in Nashville.
Go a few hours early for lessons and stake a table out. Find a partner. Dosey do.
Best two stepping close to downtown!
James White, founder of the Broken Spoke, is a country music artist himself and wrote a song about his li'l honky-tonk called "The Broken Spoke Legend."
It was AWESOME! everything you could want in an authentic honky tonk
If you don't know how to 2-step, then get off the floor -the patrons take country dancing very seriously. We never miss a chance to catch Dale Watson performing live. Read more

Chicken Fried steak not crunchy at all, tender enough, but nothing good enough to win anything; need extra sauces... Lessons are not free!!!!!.... Cover charge on Saturdays is 12!!!!!....
For an out of Towner, this is my idea of a Texas honky-tonk!
Yeeehaaa!! Honky Tonk classes every thru & sat...if you need them.
There's a special place in hell for places that don't advertise a cover charge and force customers to use an outside ATM with a $4 service fee.
