Beautiful soul satisfying food ! Stuffed cabbage , pierogies and lovely borsht , pork roulade and get their fruit punch from the counter. Cash only ! It's a bit tricky to find !
Great place for Ukrainian food lovers with very affordable prices . I’ve tried pirogies with potatoes and compote. Staff is friendly and fun. I plan to return for other food soon.
Tiny basement cafeteria serving homey potato dumplings , borscht , stuffed cabbage , and the like at dirt-cheap prices. Open Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. only.
Feels like you're at your grandma's house eating perogies - incredibly chill church basement vibes.
aside from the fact that you're essentially eating in a church basement that feels like a retirement home with folding chairs and worn plastic tablecloths, it's pretty yummy, and clearly authentic .
Easily the best deal near 36 Cooper Square. Amazing Ukrainian food hosted in a church basement open only 3 days a week. Get the $0.75 pierogi 's and expect a nap afterwards.
Little old Ukrainian babushkas cook dumplings and sausage in a church basement to raise funds for the church . Open F-Su during the day. Closes for indefinite periods of the summer for vacation.
Borscht was nice. Pierogis good very heavy though. Love the quiet authentic setup inside.
No frills.. Amazing pierogis . Love this place
No frills, feels like / is a church café . For $5 you'll be filled with good pierogi .
Cheap , plentiful, Eastern European peasant food like Oma used to make, in a deliciously tacky church-basement ambience. Fri-Sun noon-4. Get here before the E Village hipsters co-opt it ironically.
Decorated like a church community center ; seriously some of the best perogies . I don't joke about perogies .
Vegetarian ? Ask for the no-meat stuffed cabbage with mushroom sauce . Only $3!
Streecha is hands down one of my favorite spots in town !
Pierogy , borscht , cabbage rolls
Cup o' borscht . 4 warm dumplings . 1 stuffed cabbage . Special lunch spot . Do it. ibid to Tim Vetter on any tip here.
Wonderful healthy food . The borscht is superb and the owners are great conversationalists
Get the stuffed cabbage and pierogis . Delicious!
This was once upon a time Ukrainian grandma food at its best, but it's not the same anymore
The stuffed cabbage is huge, so get only one or two at most. It's pretty good though.
Get the whole menu.
They'll be back Sept 11, 2015 from summer break.

The beef and truffle pierogis are amazing and it's open too very late. Great spot! - Jarel Hill
Velselka is boring compared to UEVR. The veggie shnitzel is delicious and the pierogies are also yummy. Get half and half either steamed of fried. - Rae @ Ciona Taylor Productions
definitely the best cafe in the 'hood! great coffee, sandwiches and sweet treats. and it's cozy to boot. - Carolyn Weiss
The pastry, bread, and drink are on pal with its interior. Excellent, great for coffee and bread. Kudos to their interior for such a great environment. - Wong Lip Chin
Beautiful, European style park. Occasional live music and outdoor chess makes it a hit. - Gajtana Simonovska
