This is a truly excellent history museum--so much so that I actually got kicked out at the end of the day when they were trying to close but I wasn't done yet! The moral of the story is to go early :)
Great place to learn about Singapore's history, especially the guided tour by an passionate volunteer guide. A lot of coverage on life during and post WW2. Food here is limited & overpriced though.

If u prefer a quiet viewing of the art , avoid the guided tour at 11 am given in loud Singlish. Beware of school excursions / tours too. Probably safer to visit in afternoon.
A must see if you are here in Singapore. However do check online if there are any special events going on as sometimes the museum might close some of the exhibitions .

Besides the vast knowledge it provides you about Singapore's history, they have made it more interesting by making it quite interactive throughout!
Surprised that kiddos whom are at curious stage of "What is this? How to use? What is it for?" are fascinated of olden days items with aid of sound / video clips in comparison to modern items.
You can spend the entire afternoon in the Singapore History Gallery with tons of various artifacts from different eras.

Download the museum app. Very useful so you can snap heaps of pictures and go home and refer to the descriptions at your own time.
Great place for hanging out. If you like arts of course. The glass stairs is pretty scary.

It's open house on 9 aug. Enjoy free activities. And also free entry to the galleries . Dun missed out on the other nhb museum coz they r free too.....!
