Downtown’s premier art museum features one of the best permanent collections in the country , with works by artists like Roy Lichtenstein & Mark Rothko . Free admission Thursdays 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Be sure to go on the free tours , it's usually fairly empty and the guide will talk about anything you are interested in learning more about. Give you a sense for how and why each room is arranged.

Really cool museum , although parking is spendy. Parking in the Disney Hall structure across the street is $9, meters are $4/hr.
