Welcome to the biggest espionage organization 's headquarters. English tours at 15:00. You will be thrilled about the details of the interrogation and the psychological pressure on Stasi's suspects!
Read up on the background of Stasi/MfS online before coming (like Wikipedia), so you can skip most of Floor 1 to save time. Then, head straight to Floor 2, followed by Floor 3.
Highly recommended. Visit on Saturday afternoon for a free tour in English at 3pm. Our guide was amazing - knowledgable and enthusiastic. A brilliant experience.
This place is very interesting, calculate 1,5-2 hours here and get the audio guide. Café only accepts cash but entrance accepts card payments.
Never knew concept if ‘gaslighting’ was used to control the East German population. Really interesting museum shining a light on an unpleasant period or recent German history.
Sometimes you wonder what people do to eachother. Make sure to take the time to read stuff, there you get the actual stories
Stasi HQ that has been left in its 1989 condition – eerie and fascinating. The exhibitions offer great insights into the workings of the Stasi, although some of it is only in German.
This is the former headquarters of the Ministry for State Security, where you'll get to see a great collection of spy materials and interesting items on espionage .
Very interesting museum about the security agency of the former German Democratic Republic. See the hidden cameras , hear about the ways they gathered information about citizens etc.!
Really interesting museum that captures the darker side of the DDR well . Mielke's office is kept how it was.
Really interesting exhibitions , almost like traveling back in time. Crazy to think that the Stasi were so far reaching and active not that long ago.
Now all the exhibitions are in English as well , I visited here August 2016.
Floor 1 is a bit dry, with mostly text plaques and photos, which easily could've been a long Wikipedia article. Floor 2 and 3 are much more interesting, displaying artefacts from the time period.
Fascinating insight in communist era history and surveillance in East Germany under the Soviets
Went direct to the 3rd floor, the most interesting stuff and then back to the others; entrance is a bit hidden
Much better than DDR museum . Covers both Stasi history and DDR sociopolitical history.
Start with the 3rd floor! It's way more interesting than the two lower floors.
Amazing museum , make sure you check out the Stasi archives next door too
Very interesting exhibition about the secret police .
Look for the red leather briefcase, truly the highlight of a very remarkable exposition
The impressive place with a strong GDR spirit.
They don’t take cards. Fascinating museum that really takes you on a journey of the Stasi
Very interesting. Everything in English as well !
Costs an extra euro for permission to take photos - but it's worth it. Fascinating museum .
Make sure you attend one of the free guided tours .
Nice insight into the history of secret police in ddr
Do you want to know how was it to live during totality? Just visit this museum !
Very informative. Only the first house (out of about 20) took about 2 hours to view .
Fantastic museum made great by the location within the stasi complex
Great experience of this unforgettable horror times.
Incredible museum located at the former Ministry of National Security. If you have a Berlin Citytour card, you get 1 EUR off. Read more
Found the Stasi prison much better but interesting visit
Really good and intense
The intimidating techniques demystified!!!!
Only cash is accepted here. You also need to pay €1 to take photos.
Absolutely fantastic and terrible
Authenticity .
Intriguing, makes you realize again the importance of freedom of speech and thought
The exhibition isn't very interesting, especially if you don't speak German, but the top two floors with old spying gear and the Stasi director's own headquarters are great.
Very interesting place, esprecially 2nd floor with Erich Mielke's office . Exposition language is german, lack of english translation. Entrace +1 euro if you want permission to take photos.
Amazing place
Depressing badness
go there!
The exhibition don't show much about surveillance, English translations are scarce, many empty rooms and €1 is asked to take pictures of mostly uninteresting stuff. Very disappointed. Do sth else.
Lieu impressionnant
Super museo , de visita obligatoria para los que todavia creen en alguna ideologia. Ahora con guias en español!!!!
Totally worth the visit, specially considering that it's free. Really interesting museum about the nazism. It mainly has photos and text. Expect to spend a couple hours here. - Kyze
Great museum, despite the touristy crowd. Interactive, individual, interesting. Worth the pricey entrance. Not to be missed - the new apartment and it’s tv with original DDR programming. - Raphael Langenscheidt
Highly recommend the Cold War Bunker tour (#3). Excellent value! Don’t forget to tip your guide! They work amazingly hard! - Natalie Marioni
What a suprise. Our - english speaking - guide Mr. Schultz was fantastic. A former prisoner told us everything about this dreadful place with such a glamour and suprisingly optimism. - Adéla Pokorná
