Francis Ford Coppola wrote The Godfather in this very shop, hopped up on the same heady brew as the Beats past. It's certainly an argument for the creative mojo engendered by Trieste espresso . Read more

I had my first Africano here and was not disappointed. The only thing better than the coffee is the history throughout the entire cafe . Put a dollar in the jukebox and relax to your favorite oldies.
Cash only , great coffee . There is wifi and you can get power sockets if you look. In the evenings, their wine spritzers are great value for money too
Like walking into a living archaeological relic. The old regulars own this place but you can drop by for the best espresso or cappuccino in SF.

Solid, but not the best coffee you can get in the neighborhood . It's more about the space & charm to me than the quality. Cash only & pricey .
Good coffee , good people, good atmosphere. Good place to become a regular at. They also serve Golden Boy Pizza here which is delicious.
Best cortado ever! Cosy and lovely place. ♥️
Definitely one of the old coffee houses in SF. Good quality of Espresso .
It seems it is an establishment in North Beach and a place where Coppola wrote The Godfather. Come for a piece of history and to be transported back in time, coffee is ok but not the best

If you are really sleepy, get the four-shot espresso called "espresso grande"

Cafe mocha bianca is very delicious. You should try it .
Coffee is super strong and not for the faint hearted, but it has a very tourist-y crowd.
A neighborhood institution. Where the OGs come to gather.

Fantastic cappuccino in the heart of North Beach .
Lovely Americano while chilling in the sunshine with all the hippies around!
Open since 1956, Allen Ginsberg made this his home away from home.
My favorite home town spot. I always come in here in the mornings when I'm back home and order an Africano.
Coffee is excellent, pastries were equally so
Wonderful old neighborhood coffeehouse , beat hangout.
Transport yourself back in time.
Founded in 1956, this was the Beats’ home away from home.
The best place in the city for people watching .
Overrated. My latte was undrinkable. Burnt. Disgusting. Thew it out. I don't know what's been going on but AVOID. Reveille is much better. Caffe Greco too.
Another hole in the wall that's still around for a reason. Best coffee since getting here - sorry Char Bucks! Line is long, but moves. You'll be back.
Best latte I have had in North Beach .
Go for a raspberry ring. You won't be disappointed.
Old school and interesting - get an espresso and bring a good book .
Nice owners, who recognize their regulars. Standard brewed coffee is strong and good, and they have a number of whole bean roasts for purchase. There's also a selection of pastries & snacks. - Peter Berg
