There is normally a Ranger or Volunteer riding the boat, be sure to find them if you have a question while heading out to Fort Sumter.
Make sure you get there early to get a seat!
Remember that everyone needs a boarding pass to get on to the ferry . Boarding passes can be obtained on the main level of the Visitor Education Center.
If you can, get in line early and sit on the second floor. It's air conditioned and well worth it.
If it's cold outside, I would recommend the bottom deck. It's enclosed and heated!
Get on the boat early and listen to everyone complain about standing.

Be prepared. For those that tend to get seasick, the gift shop does not sell Dramamine.
