This hidden gem, a short walk from London Bridge, is London’s first real wine bar opened in 1964 by John Davy trading as a Free Vintner. Brimming with genuine character and jovial service, it has the feel of a private members club and is home to some of the most original private rooms in the area.

Great wine bar in Borough! It's hard to tell from the outside, but the place is massive! There's group seating downstairs and a lovely little courtyard out back.
An amazingly unreconstructed old school bar . Very good food and excellent service. Apparently the wine list is well worth exploring too!
Quite an authentic and interesting pub that's altogether different than other throwbacks. Lots of history. Good service . Food is pretty tasty. I'd like to go back to try more of their cellar.
A hidden gem in Southwark! Elegant old timey interiors, good selection of wines and ports , and the food looked good as well (although I didn't have any)
An excellent wine bar, tucked away, absolutely impeccable interiors. Good for secret rendezvous.
Dark and cavernous with an excellent wine list. Note that they have grouse at present as a seasonal special .
Great ambience, wine selection , service and authentic decor.
The place is tucked away but is worth having a tour :charming, chic , authentic but not smug. Loved it.
Intimate wine bar hidden away near the crossbones Cemetary. Great selection of beer too.
If you want a big fish , come on Friday and ask for the specials menu. Grouse also available during Game Season.
Excellent for quiet pints, great wifi , courtyard garden , outdoor seating , beer garden .
Best French Wine Selection at a very reasonable prices 💷
Great selection of wine . Champagne by the tankard. Lovely bar staff that's been working there for 30 years!
Good food and great wine selection . Don’t be afraid to try their house wines
Best place to drink in the area … by far !!!
No matter how much of a good idea it seems at the time, do not buy a cigar . It greatly adds to hangover.
Tucked away, wonderfully relaxing; good food, very good wine . Note: it is a WINE bar . So don't ask for beer , fool.
Excellent wine list and delightful staff
For the stereotypical English pub/lodge type place, come here!
The scallops were amazing!
It's so overheated inside....the outside terrace is really nothing special
Lovely hidden wine bar .
Although they do have bottled beers there for the non-wine drinkers.
Best wine bar in a 5-mile radius. Impeccable service, big indoor and outdoor space . Excellent menu.
adorbs old pub !
Good Davy's wine selection . Food only really adequate. How is it possible to mess up gammon and eggs ?
Fantastic concept, pick your own wine by the glass, or just a taster. Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and happy to stop and chat all things oenologic. - Dave Crawley
One of the best places I’ve been to in London. Find a spot, try some bottles and get a charcuterie board. Make friends! - Aditi
An unassuming little wine and plates bar around the corner from Carnaby Street. Friendly service and convivial atmosphere. 🍷 - Paul Gallagher
Amazing market conveniently located south of the river... Fresh fruit and veg and breads better than Portabello market! - Pra Sve
Try the Mushroom, Thyme & Roasted Pappardele. It's delicious! - Rafael Scavone
